Keep Norah O'Donnell on The CBS Early Morning Show

For the past week Norah O'Donnell (formally from NBC) has been sitting in as a guest host on the CBS Morning Show.

I think she should stay on as co-host and the network should get rid of the young lady who O'Donnell is filling in for while on vacation.

She has perfect chemistry with Charlie Rose and, in my opinion, brings more to the show than the young lady (not Oprah's buddy) who is regularlly featured.

My wife and I, who are both on vacation this week, have been watching the CBS Early Show and I agree with your comments that O'Donnell appears to bring something special to that program.
However I doubt that O'Donnell would want to give up her job as senior White House correspondent to host an early morning show that has had a history of being in third place against GMA and "The Today Show".

Funny thing! I almost started the same thread yesterday. Please dump the cold, terse Erica Hill and keep Norah O'Donnell. The show has been so much better this week. In fact, I would venture to say that there is actually some chemistry (gasp) on the set between Charlie, Norah, and Gayle. Erica totally brings down the show and has zero chemistry with Charlie or Gayle.

This is a soliid show and having Norah permanently on would surely improve the ratings.

I wonder if the "brass" at CBS notices what we see? If so then Erica Hill should be worried about her job.
It is obvious that Norah O'Donnell is a perfict fit for that program.

Maybe this was an audition!
Anything is possible!
And besides if this week's ratings shows an increase in viewers, you can be assured that there will be discussions among those in charge of programming.

Re: Keep Norah O'Donnell on "CBS This Morning"

In case any future Internet researchers are here, the proper name of the morning TV program from CBS referenced during the discussion is "CBS This Morning".

I disagree. Erica Hill, the also attractive young lady O'Donnell is filling in for, is very talented and does a great job on the show IMO.

O'Donnell's MO is just too much to take at 7AM.

Granted, as umfan pointed out, he is a fan of Erica Hill. That is fine. I do not dislike Ms. Hill, but find Ms. O'Donnell a refreshing change for morning news.

Speaking of CBS This Morning , I sure hope they are performing well, as Today and GMA are such tabloid fodder now. I am liking CBS' format much better.

I doubt Norah would sign on as newsreader for the #3 morning show program. She has the premier reporting gig for the evening news and is likely the replacement for Bob Schieffer on Face The Nation sometime after the next election. Plus, she has a houseful of young children, so an early AM gig to read the news seems unlikely.

You'd be surprised what people can or will do if enough money is thrown at them.

If CBS executives figure that O'Donnell can bring the CBS morning show out of third place, they will present her with an offer she can't refuse.

Did she have a choice?

I believe she did. From 2008-2010, Erica Hill pulled double duty of being news anchor on AC360 and weekend anchor on CBS's "Saturday Early Show". She felt the CBS gig was more permissible because they were offered lead on there, thus she chose it over CNN.

Norah and Charlie Rose make an outstanding interview tag-team. I watched with amazement and pleasure to see that they worked hard to make their interview guests actually answer the questions. Unlike Matt Lauer, who always appears to allow his guests to spin any story they want to, Charlie and Norah worked hard to get the guest to give an actual answer.

Wow......what a concept.....getting answers from politicians and other interview guests.
