WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!!!
As I mentioned on yuku.com, we are officially mourning the end of Pulse 87. We finally had a station we felt was our own... a local station that advertised and supported LOCAL business, a station that knew and understood its community and what it NEEDED to hear.
I DO NOT support Party 105 playing its corney long island mix in Queens while advertising Suffolk county businesses. Pulse 87 even had a float in this year's Greek Independence Day parade, among other promotions at local mom & pop businesses. It was a local station for it's local listeners.
I actually looked forward to driving back towards Queens and picking up 87's week signal... I knew i was heading home.
The demographic is different in Queens than Suffolk, and the DJ that I heard on the radio today around 6 PM with DJ Surge that sounds like the TGIF waiter in the movie Office Space with the flair isn't going to cut it. SORRY.
As a local small business owner myself, I feel we have lost more than just another radio station, but a voice that reflected the community on the air amongst so many commercial stations.
And what's this about the Original Hot 97???? I had to look down and make sure I wasn't wearing Z Cavaricci's or that my jeans weren't rolled up!
Guys, its 2009 going on to 2010. The economy is bad and the general feel air is gloomy. WE NEED NEW, FRESH THINGS NOT A BLAST FROM THE PAST! I remember listening to Hot 103 when it became Hot 97.... LEAVE IT IN THE PAST!
ON BEHALF OF ALL THE LISTENERS IN ASTORIA AND THE BUSINESSES THAT INVESTED IN ADVERTISING AND SUPPORTING THE STATION, BRING PULSE 87.7 BACK AND REMOVE PARTY 105.1 FROM QUEENS AIRWAVES. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS!
