Hey Ken,
Nice to see you're doing okay. It always sucks when you become "over qualified" at a place you helped to make tons of money for over the years. Consulting is where it's at these days. You have your own hours, work at your pace, charge what you want to for the work you're doing for the clients. It's a great gig. New Media is what's happening too these days. In the next few years, we are going to see traditional media take a seat further and further back in the bus.
I'm a former co-worker of yours. I was at B-104 (and Laser 104.1) from 1990 to 1992. I was on WZZO from 1997 to 2003 and in the news department of Clear Channel from 2001 to 2003. It's been awhile but I'm sure you remember me. I'm out of radio but still in media and have added business to the mix. I just graduate Drexel University with two grad degrees: a MS in Television and New Media Management and a MBA (concentration is marketing.) My undergrad is from Drexel also. After a seven month search for a position with a company and being told over and over again "you're over qualified", I'm hanging out my shingle to do consulting work in media and communications. I'm doing the research on what is need and I'm working on a business plan. I just got my first client yesterday. I have my networking set which includes a former co-worker of ours. I will be outsourcing web site creation and modification for my firm to this person. I don't want to name names in a public forum for rumors to start up by those who really don't know the whole story, if you catch my drift.
Best of luck! I'm going to check out Lehigh Valley Social TV and your famous blog. I'm sure it's full of whit and fun.
Take Care!
