Upon Kevin and Taylor being inducted into the Friends of Georgia Radio Hall of Fame, I wonder why they haven't been hired to do mornings on Star 94. They have equity in the market and would bring in former Fish listeners. They also would make money for the station, attracting business and doing endorsements. And Star needs a morning show. They would fit in fine with Star's new more pop-oriented music mix.

That said, I suppose it's not impossible that Star 94 will still hire them. If they didn't get hired because Audacy didn't want to spend the dollars, it would say something about the current state of radio.

Star's management could of course have another reason for not hiring them but to me, it sounds like a no-brainer.
 
The duo did previously announce that they were under contract after the Fish ended for a short period of time but thats over. I wonder if they would do a mainstream station. Seem pretty set on staying in Atlanta it appears.
 
I’d love to see Kevin & Taylor land somewhere locally. They’re good, talented people.

Would Star shift in a more 25-54 pop hits direction (lightening up on the urban) if they added Kevin & Taylor?
 
If you look at the KLove 6+ numbers someone with an underperforming whole market FM signal might consider CCM.
IIRC The Fish always beat KLove 6+. The money demos might say something else about CCM.

IMHO: Honestly (commercials) is better than trying to shame listeners with beagathons. Kinda reminds me of Jim & Tammy.
 
Ever since I discovered the music during the cross over of several Christian artists in the early 90s that released songs to mainstream radio and took a vacation to Dallas I really thought the format would work commercially. My option at the time was 93.3 which was commercial until 2011 was poorly programmed most of the 90s until they Became J 93.3 under PD Jerry Williams. I bought a lot of CDs and used two boom boxes and pretended like I was a commerical Christian AC station until 93.3 got better then before I knew It I was begging Salem to launch music on 104.7 when were swapping signals with Cox in Houston.
Kevin and Taylor were paired together at WAY FM West Palm Beach before coming to The Fish while that station was Christian CHR but now that Network has gone Christian AC. I had to leave Georgia after 52 years and without streaming I wont be able to listen to a new Kevin & Taylor show if it happens.
Im now in the Range of K Love still but this time the Greenville 94.5 signal that takes over coverage as 106.7 Gainesville Atlanta starts to fade on I-85 near the state line.
I hope the show is reborn on 94.1
 
IIRC at one time I thought Kevin said he worked an oldies station before CCM. I've worked AC, Country, full service AC, news, oldies and the dreaded Chicken Rock. I even filled in for a "Soul Shift" at my first station which was a block programed station. You just stay natural and make sure you bits are appropriate for the audience. BTW I didn't have a lot of time to listen to the music that much. There was always "last minute" production.


In a top ten market I doubt the announcers have any control over the music unless they have "other duties". They will play what the computer is programmed to play.

I think so, and the reason is that they're talented. They would have to modify what they say to some extent, but I think they would be effective.

When I listen to Star these days, I hear in heavy rotation songs by the likes of Jeffrey Osborne, Wham, Alicia Keys, Brittany Spears, Black-Eyed Peas and Taylor Swift. They still play artists such as Tupac Shakur, which they might have to drop in morning drive if K&T joined.

The weekend mix is more rap-heavy. The weekday throwback format is very good and they play some stuff that hasn't been touched since the last days of the old (AC) B-98.5.

The problem with "Jazz Flavors" was that the sales department saw it as an easy sell. And it was, but people who tuned in for pop in the daytime wondered what the hell that stuff was they were playing at night. And jazz people tuned in earlier in the day and heard pop. No consistency.

When 94Q briefly went CHR in 1989, it dropped the jazz except for Sundays. WQXI eventually decided to rebrand, and the upper management told the PD that “Jazz Flavors” would be back on the air so get ready for that huge millstone to come roaring back.

Star 94 remained a non-started for a couple of years, only taking off with the arrival of Steve McCoy and the final termination of “Jazz Flavors.”
