Kevin and Taylor

If you listen to the flip from 94Q to Star 94, it's dedicated to Jerry (Blum) and Gary (McKee).

Steve McCoy was a household name, having succeeded Ross & Wilson at Z-93. And, no, Ross & Wilson did NOT get fired for dedicating "Another One Bites The Dust" to Atlanta's "missing and murdered" children. They got an offer they couldn't refuse at Z-93's sister station in NYC.

Star 94 also got a boost when it became the closest Atlanta had to a CHR when Power 99 flipped to 99X, leaving Atlanta without a true CHR. Z93 had already flipped to classic rock a few years prior, and B98.5 was still a more tepid AC and Peach 94.9 even more so, having finally dropped BM/EZ from overnights. Fox 97 had already gone oldies.

Wow . Not since steve and Vickie came from power 99 has star had a proven morning show. The attempt to bring jeff from the Bert show didn’t work to well
Trying to mimic what Bert and company have built was a disaster, even though the show had two of Bert's supporting cast.

Kevin & Taylor are a no-brainer for Star. That's what they need. Remember that Star hasn't had a successful morning show since they foolishly jettisoned Steve McCoy. Here's their chance to bring that vibe back to morning radio.

Does Star go more AC/pop now or do they stay the course? I'm going to guess that tweaks are coming to make the music more K&T-audience friendly. The Fish listeners that migrate over won't like hearing "It Wasn't Me."

I wonder if Star would consider doing a "CCM Hybrid with the up tempo CCM artist's music worked in the Mornings. You look at the lastest KLove and Air1 (6+) ratings, IMHO There is money to be made with CCM in Atlanta. KLove can't legally capture all the potential CCM revenue.

Those are two vastly different audiences who have bases who hate each other music. The CCM base is going to find the secular music too worldly, and the secular music base will evoke King of the Hill and South Park's takedowns on CCM.

If I was calling the shots: I would flip the station to CCM or at least till 6pm. Apparently they have no on air staff so not really hard to do. IIRC didn't Kevin do the music (program director?) for the Fish a long time ago.

I cannot help but wonder if Star 94.1 will indeed tweak its music. Could a return to Hot AC be in store? Maybe even a flip to Mainstream AC?

A music move would've been surprising prior to this morning show announcement. I assume the numbers in F18 to 49 and F25 to 54 are pretty good.

Maybe even soft AC. The numbers with the current format are pretty decent. Would another station capitalize on this and adopt the Rhythmic AC format?

Literally no one dayparts a major market commercial station. Probably the last one was ... WQXI, 35 years ago.
It's absolutely not possible to take on an established competitor (WAKL in this case) by running their format, but only doing it 12 hours a day, and doing it with 10-12 minutes more commercials per hour.

KLove can't legally capture all the potential CCM revenue.
They certainly can. If someone was going to stop them, it would have been when K-Love acquired the former WFSH.

In the mid-80s, WPCH was doing AC during the day and still doing BM/EZ at night.

So just repeat the Jazz Flavors whiplash all over again?
Ugh. Disaster.

When 94 flipped in 1989 and they put Jazz Flavors back on weeknights, I knew that the station would continue to flounder. I also knew that the sales department was making the programming decisions because Jazz Flavors was an easy sell.

They should have picked AC or jazz, and gone forward.
