Kevin & Sluggo Cut At KLOS

He was doing stand up when he did radio.
I don’t think he was. He did some college tours with Dr. Drew when he was doing Loveline, but those weren’t standup shows, they were Q&As. Then he went to mornings on KLSX and I don’t remember him mentioning any stand up dates on any of the shows I listened to, and I listened a lot.

Maybe I'm confusing him with Kimmel. They're very similar to me.
Kimmel has his own comedy club in Vegas and maybe that’s what you’re thinking of:

I live about 35 miles due west of Mount Wilson, with an unobstructed line of sight to there from where my building's OTA antenna is. And even though it is aimed right at that mountain, I cannot receive a decodable signal for KWHY. Every other station on Wilson is non-problematic.
Could you be experiencing a situation similar to the one I described having with KFLA-8 in this old post? In other words, you have no obstruction to Mt. Wilson, but there's an obstruction at Mt. Wilson for your particular location? At the same location I mentioned in that post, where a roof antenna is being used, channel 4 RF is booming in -- with exactly the same dB strength of KNBC on channel 36 no less.

Edit - Here is what KFLA's footprint looked like during the period I described in that post. Note the massive signal shadow covering the eastern San Gabriel Valley:

Later after KFLA's owner moved its antenna up KCBS' tower further, that area was filled in (although a prominent narrow shadow still remained, preventing reception starting in Baldwin Park and going southeast from there).

I doubt the demographic population of Baldwin Park ever missed the kinds of networks KFLA was carrying at the time... ;)

They really shouldn't be. Kimmel discovered Corolla while training at Adam's boxing gym for a bit on the Kevin & Bean Show and he fell into radio through that.

Jimmy was one of the biggest radiogeeks you'd find. He even had an account on this site in the early/mid 2000s concurrent with hosting his late night TV show. Prior to moving to TV he worked in radio in multiple markets including Phoenix, Tucson, Seattle, and was PD/morning host at 92.7 KCMJ Palm Springs where his intern turned co-host was Carson Daly prior to joining Kevin & Bean.

Kimmel has frequently said he thought Jimmy Kimmel Live would get cancelled fairly quickly and he'd have gone back to morning radio, likely joining Carolla on KLSX when it became Free-FM as he was a consulting producer on that show.

I don't think so. I get enough signal strength on RF 4 for the receiver to lock in, but not enough to allow the stream to be decoded.

Ironically, KFLA is the one LPTV that I receive well.

Have you ever been on a picket fencing FM station in the car and annoyingly rolled to a stop right in the center of one of the signal troughs? Maybe your antenna is in one of those thanks to a local object -- or the inverse, in the beampath of a multipath reflection.

More ironically: I'm now unable to see KFLA again, this time because every subchannel except 8-1 decodes as "audio only" on my older model television. I think they may be experimenting with MPEG-4. (Roy Mayhugh sold it a while back.) Can't find anything relevant at rabbitears.info, alas.

I'm still receiving them fine, except 8.1 is still a blank screen since NewsNet went bankrupt.

First he got fired by phone by KROQ at the start of the pandemic, now he gets fired the same day the station starts a promotion starring him. He said on Twitter/X that he’s going to be working on something new, and he was writing a book too.

Aside from the morning show there is no reason to stick around. I loved Marci's playground...GONE I enjoyed Kevin and sluggo GONE...I don't listen to the syndicated shows they have EVER. BYE KLOS ITS BEEN REAL. YALL MAKE VERY BAD DECISIONS!!!

Back to Jack fm for you sluggo?

What an awful thing to do to a person.
That's Show Biz. Radio careers rarely end with a Gold Watch and a Dinner Party. Human Resources obviously was oblivious that Sales had planned a promotion with him.
Radio employees are just numbers on a ledger. When a line gets drawn through your name, you're out.

This situation does make ownership look foolish and slipshod (Not that they care)...

Maybe the fans should start a counter campaign like "Where's KLOS? Not in my presets anymore!"

The tactlessness of this incident really does deserve some kind of answer from its listeners...

Ch 22 has never been a serious player in local tv. This move should’ve been done years ago and he knows it
For a few years in the mid-90's, as an independent Spanish language channel, it did quite well. But as Univision recovered from its greeting card days and expended and Telemundo became a force, they were left behind.

There has to be more to this than the things that are being assumed or criticized here. Meruelo just named a new operations manager, so this change is likely more than a coincidence.
