Remember, they brought in Pio Ferro from New York to head operations and programming, and he is an LA radio veteran, having programmed KLVE from 1995 to 2000.

But they have to do something, as the numbers on all the Meruelo stations need improvement. They did not make changes at the very top just to do the same ol' same ol'.
 
Here is what Meruelo Media's operations and programming head had to say to RAMP:

Well, it's shameful enough that they sometimes leave Middays jockless ever since ousting Marci. They couldn't leave *two* daytime dayparts without a jock. It's bad enough some stations do it on weekends and overnights, but prime time Mon-Fri? Positively naked. It doesn't seem like a question that they would hire someone else; they're simply getting rid of two salaries and hiring in one--so they've made their budget cuts and still get a decent (we hope) host. Good luck to him.

As The Big A mentions, the plan all along was most likely to dump two salaries and replace them with one.

Replacing Kevin and Sluggo was almost certainly a budget decision. Their numbers weren't high enough to cover their costs, at least not at the margins Meruelo wanted.

Do Booker and Stryker on Alt 98.7 KYSR get better numbers than Kevin and sluggo did on Klos? I thought both were and are quality shows.

They wouldn't have hired an afternoon guy and ad the Alice's attic at night if they were gonna blow the station up. I don't listen much anymore I don't like how they got rid of Marci. She was GR8. I really enjoyed the boot camp at noon.

Talk to her husband about that; he's the PD. It's weird that they don't have a permanent replacement. Sometimes it's that weekend jock who gives nothing but sports scores. Sometimes it's nothing. Boring.
 
Wait we were led to believe Audacy axed Kevan for budget cuts, only to bring in even more high priced talent? Or is this a play to strengthen 25-54? Either way Megan got screwed over
