KFBK on 107.1?

Ok since we are all throwing idea's in the air and looking at the nasty stain Just lying there as it falls on the ground, The FM or AM goes all news with the other going all talk or "sports" and whatever station is on AM goes on the translator, but my guess its going back to Music, Full CHR a Sacramento version of KISS FM with Ryan Seacrest and Live Nation tie in's etc........ they need those younger demo's!

Ok so I agree with Mr. Kress. :)

  • I think we're going to see KISS FM in Sacramento to go up against The End.
  • I think 107.1 and 105.9 K290AI (to be purchased by KFBK) will be fill-in translators for 92.5 HD2 which will become KFBK in the flip.

Ok so number 1 is a maybe, number 2 is likely to happen.

Didn't they already have Seacrest on PM drive in a previous life? My 92-5 was essentially a CHR; and they had Valentine during AM. So 92.5 does full-circle a 2nd time??...(the first returning to KFBK). What a joke.

They did although I would call 92.5 a "watered down CHR" if there is such a thing.

It's merely speculation.

It's a crap shoot and you never really know what they're going to do until they do it. I'm sure someone at CC has their finger on the button.

If I'm reading this right, they're moving the antenna to a 358 ft tower. Looks like they're applying to mount the antenna at the 270 ft mark. Should be a nice "translator". :)

What's your take Michael? Did I miss something?

It's interesting how the translator rules work. A regular translator in this zone of the country is allowed an ERP 250 up to 30 meters or lower power down to 10 watts at a higher location. I did find something in the rules that states that there is no height limit if the translator is a fill-in. That is as long as the 60 mv/m contour translator is inside the stations protected contour of the FM parent or with in 25 miles (or inside 2 mv/m) of an AM parent and that it doesn't create any interference.. So theoretically, you could place a translator on top of the Sutter Buttes with 250 w ERP. That's greater than the class A's up there. Of course, at that point you would probably have a full powered station in it's place. The dial is too crowded for many high powered translators.

I wonder if CC is planning to buy 101.5 and is using 107.1 (of the AM) to get better coverage in the east county. Hmmm.

That last part is interesting.

Do the fill in rules (mentioned above) apply to fill in FM HD-2 translators as well?

Yes they do. That's how you see these 250-watt translators on top of tall buildings in big cities. I also find it interesting that they applied for this as vertical polarization only, not circular.

Might they do Sports? Both Sports stations are on AM, and don't have sister FMs worth risking. It seems to be the hot format these days. Or maybe move their classic hits to 92.5 and do something else on 93.1?

I believe they do.

If that's the case, I'm willing to bet it will be used to simulcast 92.5 HD-2. Time will tell.
