KFCD is Back on Sports

KESN isn't going to change. It's all about clearing spots...

And the Ticket probably isn't going to change either. If you remember back to it's early days, they were 'hardcore' sports, very caller driven, very x's and o's. And, if you beleive the rumors, losing hundreds of thousands of dollars a month. That's when they brought in Mike Thompson who oversaw the shift to 'guy talk', and ratings took off...

OK, so let's assume that KESN will consolidate all its operations in Bristol once Citadel takes over, as ESPN's already said, and go to multiple regional sports-newscasts that will all be generated from Bristol but beamed into whichever markets in whatever part of the country. OK: so two big questions...what happens to the Mavericks, and what happens to Galloway? I assume the rest of the local staff is expendible, and maybe they'd hire a contract announcer with a blue box and have him do the Mavs broadcasts and dial into an ISDN line at KESN or in Bristol. But what do you do with Galloway? I'd love to see him back at WBAP, but I doubt that'll happen.

Under this scenario, if they want to keep the Mavs but jettison local staff, they could work out a simulcast with FSN/KTXA. The Stars have simulcast the radio (WBAP) and TV (FSN/KDFI) broadcast for a while. The only time the game is not simulcast is when the Stars have a national game (Versus, NBC) -- then, it is just the WBAP broadcast. The NHL has 2 radio/TV simuclasts left among its 30 teams; not sure if the NBA has any.

Galloway was far better on WBAP with his "Football Firing line",etc. IF Citadel dumps him, well it would be the first mistake in a parade of many.
