KFI: Major Announcement At Noon Today (Dec. 12)

Listening to Handel minutes ago and Bill Carroll announced in a promo that there will be a major announcement about "the format" at noon today.

I noticed at 5am this morning that every bumper was format change-y songs: one song I didn't recognize with the lyric "the end is near", and "Closing Time".

What could they be doing? Is it FM? I can't imagine what they'd be changing.
 
All Christmas Talk.

"What really makes those reindeer fly?"

"How do you feel about a big, fat illegal alien in a red suit crawling down your chimney"

and, "What's with Jesus and poor people already?"

Stimulating.
 
I doubt it's lineup changes. Handel, Carroll, J&K, and Conway all pull great numbers.

Wanna take bets on which FM is getting blown up?
 
I give Conway 30 seconds into his show tonight to say, "Hey Randy! We're at an FM talk station again!" ;D

I hope not. I'm gonna be ticked if I can't listen to KFI on 640. I'm a few hundred miles too far away to pick up anything off Wilson.
 
Wouldn't the Dodgers fit better at KLAC? You'd lose as many non-Sports KFI listeners as you'd gain fans. Especially in the current shape the Dodgers are these days.

I figure that only goes as far as Rich Marotta's ISDN banter during Handel's show. Why would they cannibalize their sister station, when the talk-sans-most-sports format is pulling in amazing numbers? That's robbing Peter's plate to give Paul indigestion.
 
It's not coming up anymore but I know what I read, it was the very top listing and now its gone. I guess we'll have to wait until noon to know for sure.

Just did my own google search, did not see anything linking KFI and the Dodgers. I still think an FM simulcast is about to hit. We will know in 10 minutes!

If that theory prevails, then more likely is moving Hot to 98.7 and using the Mt Wilson signal to rebroadcast KFI.

On the other hand, KYSR holds KROQ down, making the CC cluster overall look better.

But... no guarantee that this is about FM. However, with Sacramento and San Diego recently making the same simulcast type move, it's a worthy discussion topic.

We will know in 3 minutes. Probably something insignificant.
 
And Bill Caroll's first words this hour ....

"Okay, it's just a minor, fun little tweak to the show. I guess I overstated that." ;D

No FM. No Dodgers. False alarm, folks.
 
Oh, KFI, Bil Carrol, you didn't...

Announcing a big "announcement" at 12:00 noon and then coming up with this is simply beneath contempt and any further discussion. I like Bill Carroll, but now have a reason not to like his show.
