KFOX To HD

The first domino has fallen following the KBAY sale as the Classic Rock "K-Fox" programming will move to KUFX-HD2 and KMVQ-HD3 starting next Wednesday.

San Jose has lost so many rock and alternative stations over the years. Looks like 98.5 might soon be joining 104.9, 97.7 and 92.3 unless Connoisseur has a surprise up its sleeves.

Classic rock on an HD-3 channel? That's what... 32 kilobits? Ouch!!
But KMVQ has good coverage in the Bay Area core while KUFX is riddled with multipath in many of those locations, such as parts of Oakland. So this might actually be something of an upgrade for KUFX as far as the audio is concerned.

Unfortunately these stations have no purpose without the passion and music that created them. They are moments in time. In truth, very brief moments in time. Today, over 50 years later, they're better memories than actual radio stations. Same with KFOG. Once the context was gone, so was the station.
