KFRC: Here's What I Hear...

Mikecroaro, you said it all, This new KFRC needs the guys who made these call letters what they are today, Funny how KFRC is the only station that has moved up and down the dial and its still going strong !!! 31 years ago it was KFRC 106.1 before the camel arrived , so KFRC has made 3 appearances onthe FM 99.7, 106.1,, and now 106.9!!!! Till i hear different John Mack Flanagan is a must hire, SPARE NO EXPENSE CBS!!!! Give this legend a long very lucritive contract, no more Cammy Blackstone or Ron Parker , and get Paula Kelly in there, what a voice!!!!! Kenny in Concord Why not put on TK Tony Kilbert from the Camel, Wheres he at these days?

God Bless you, but "spare no expense" and "CBS" are no longer on the same planet! Even TV...the so-called Tiffany Network is now more like the Zales Network...

And what happens to 99.7 when MOViN crashes and burns?

How about a return of KYUU?!

While we're at it, shouldn't 97.7 in SJ go back to KPEN?

BTW great posts in the "KFC is back" thread! I'm still laughing at the line-up, Jackologist! Had a feeling some of us couldn't resist a bad pun ! ;)

>>Lkeller: As pointed out above, Don Sainte John is working at V-101.1 Sacramento. It's a clone of 98.1 Kiss-FM where he is billed as "Doctor Don Sainte John" which I find a little sacreligious. <<

I think you are taking the "Dr" handle out of context. I took a class taught by Sainte-Johnn at Ohlone College two years ago. If I am not mistaken the handle relates specifically to his educational training. He has been teaching PT for a number of years and to the best of my knowledge, he is still at it [teaching] some where for the Losrios College System in Sacramento. According to the Prof., he used the handle when working in the midwest (I think it was St. Louis or Kansas City, before moving to Chicago). If you call him Doctor or something else, he was a darn good teacher for my class at Ohlone in Fremont.

I was under the impression that he took on the "Doctor" handle in homage to Dr. Don Rose.

A disc jockey who uses his PhD as part of his on-air name. That's pretty funny. Actually, when I said I find it "sacreligious," I was speaking somewhat tongue-in-cheek. I really don't care if he calls himself Dr. Don.

I do think it's sacrilidge even IF he's paying homage to DDR, the is and always will be only ONE Dr. Don and that is Dr. Don Rose. Sainte is great, but this is a little much don't you think? Granted he was the PD of KFRC-FM before coming to 610 and doing late nights for a long time, but it still doesn't warrent the hnadle of "Dr. Don." Am I right here???

I'm not offended by Sainte-John using Dr. Don Sainte-John in Sacramento, especially if he used it before coming to San Francisco. There have always been multiple guys using the same moniker around the country, even the same nickname, ie. Emperor Hudson in LA and Emperor Nelson in SF. There have been lots of "Shotguns" and "Rabbits" and "Drs."
What would seem tacky is if Dr. Don Sainte-John or anyone signed on with KFRC and used the name "Dr. Don" without a second name. That would sound like an attempt at deception. Many threads on this board jumped all over someone who seemed to be doing that with a KYA personality's image even if it was part of his own name or air name in other markets. It was the appearance of deception that riled people.

Leave Sainte Johnn Alone already, I beleive he added the Doctor to his name after completing his phd, anyone and everyone knows there is only one Dr Don and Sainte Johnn added the Doctor to his name after leaving his 25 year stint at KFRC and exiting the San Fransisco Market. I would have had a problem if all the sudden it was Magic 61 with Dr Don Sainte Johnn, that would be walking on Rose's footsteps somthing Sainte Johnn would never do. Dr Don was still alive when Ste Johnn added the Dr and Im sure he got a kick out of hearing Dr Don in Sacramento especially since it was a fellow big 610 man.
