KFYI Sounds Terrible on AM

I am someone who likes KTAR and KFYI. I get my news from KTAR and find myself digging their new guy Ancarlo. Then I listen to Rush and Hannity and get traffic from Detour Dan in the KTAR helicopter when I go home. After listening to KTAR on 92.3 KFYI sounds so bad on AM. Everytime I drive to the 51 to get to work I drive by a bunch of power lines and I can't hear a dang thing. I'm surprised KFYI isn't on FM. They should be because they sound old on AM.

They should be because they sound old on AM. KFWhyEye gets away with it 'cause KT'R-FM sounds old on FM! The Nurse and I urged the CCU suits to sacrfice one of their FMs last summer to get KFWhyEye on FM. But thanks to TMISU's bad programming, KFWhyEye AM beats News 92~Three, where Hip Hop used to live. We still think the suits should put 'em on FM.

I laugh everytime I hear KFYI say talk for a new generation and they're on AM. That sounds so funny. ::)

I was just thinking. KOY should get rid of that hack Danny Davis and hire Pat McBland as their morning man and syndicate his "show" (used loosely) to other stations like KJUL in Las Vegas and WDUV in Tampa. He would be unstoppable taking on the "issues" like overpriced prescription drugs or the ever-changing valley weather while also mixing in a little of the "best music ever made" to a national audience of old-timers.

What a gold mine just waiting to be tapped.

I agree. Pat would be a great fit for KOY.

So would Paul Harvey.

So would the Noon News. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...wake me up for Wheel of Fortune, Edna!

It's hilarious that every topic turns into a debate about KT'R. It doesn't matter if it's a topic about KFYI, people don't want to waste their time talking about such a boring station. Don't blame you. Toasters, the missing A, and where it is raining are all people here seem to remember and care about. They're stuck in the past and stuck talking about KT'''''''R. 8)

Au contrare, Mr. or Ms. 5300 North. We spread the slamming around.
You want 55/FYI trashed? OK...

--The raving lunatic in early AM drive.
--Royal Norman's canned weather.
--The Nearly Bald One and his obnoxious decades-old SFX.
--El Rushbo and Hannity on a one-hour delay instead of live.
--Crummey's "local" show done from El Lay.
--@#$% I-CRAP, er, IBOC. Yeah, it does sound terrible on analog AM,
with a background "hissing" noise more often than not recently.

Anyone with more? Anyone? Bueller?

Oh, oh, oh...Brian Whitfill's Sunday AM garden show has been replaced with another Voodo Economics money show. And of course this is all followed by former KT'R money talker, former KFWhyEye substitute host, former candidate for US Senate, and former owner of the financial planning firm that only spoke to people with a net worth of at least 3 million dollars, Keith DeGreen!

I listened to Brian Whitfill's show yesterday from 7 to 8 a.m. He didn't say anything about the show be cancelled. And it still shows on their website. And think it is a great show; he takes a lot of calls, and handles them very well.

where did you get your info?

Degreen is currently sailing around the world and doing his show from his yacht and from the destinations he lands at. I listened the other day, he is in Hawaii, some good information about Marshall Islands and Micronesia (places I really want to get to) and Palau.

Now, if I just had a spare 3 million to invest in my portfolio

aside from gilberg & drudge, i don't listen to kfyi

i will tune-in for this though; it's sounds like an interesting show

Keith better watch out! The last time a local KFYI personality went out on the high seas, (they) got banished to KKNT never to heard from again. :D

wait - joe crummey broadcasts from LA?

Supposedly.... according to some newspaper article that was posted on this website a while ago. Maybe you can find it with a Google News search. I found it hard to believe though. How would he be picking up his son at school here if he's over THERE? Well... who knows. Maybe I will email.

As for KFYI sounding terrible on AM, for me it isn't a question of switching to FM (though that'd be nice), what I have noticed as I listen to KFYI during the night time is that I can get 640 KFI Los Angeles much more clear! And I'm just in Glendale, AZ, not the boondocks.

KOOL Listener Lauren...Joe Crummey ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY lives in L.A. & broadcasts from L.A.
And there are also many other on-air personalities on music stations who voicetrack from another market but never mention it. So when they tell you it's 85 and sunny outside here in the Valley of the Sun, be aware that they're not really here, experiencing the weather. Instead, they're reading it off the internet, while they're in some other market.

Yes, its very disingenuous, but it's status quo nowadays.

It's not disingenuous, it's progress.

You call making your listeners think you sympathize with them because you drive that same 101 freeway in Scottsdale with photo radar just like they do day in & day out progressive...some call it....disingenuous...deceptive...lying by omission???!!!

It's really not that big of a deal...but anyone willing to be that disingenuous should raise a red flag.
