Here’s the L-R map that puts at 70dbu all the way to Pomona
Pomona, of course, is not in their Nielsen market. And that whole strip of San Bernardino County from Upland almost to Rialto is not in any rated market. Here’s the L-R map that puts at 70dbu all the way to Pomona
What I am saying is that maps often do not duplicate reality. The case of KRCV was a perfect example where the transmitter was moved into the center of population of the SGV, no format change was made and no competitor existed. By moving the transmitter off the hill, ratings more than tripled. So what you are really saying is the stronger the signal, the better for indoors which makes sense. In that case, 81 or above would be better and it’s only 2/3 of the market. Most of the rated market’s populated section gets 70 or above. Forget the outlying areas.
That's probably because Heaps Peak (KGGI's tower location) has almost line-of-sight to the Victor Valley.Much of that is competition. KGGI in the Victor Valley book is still in the 9 to 10 share range, same as I could track it back to 2016 at. And that is even with the attrition of 12-17 listeners to streams.
Remember, that market extends all the way to Barstow and the state line and down to Yucca Valley and 29 Palms. So get around a 10 share there with only partial coverage is excellent. That's probably because Heaps Peak (KGGI's tower location) has almost line-of-sight to the Victor Valley.
