I was very happy to read here that brown eye radio is gone from what used to be my favorite station. I had heard the name Bloomberg, but didn't know who/what it was. Checked it out last night. It was terrible. I have zero interest in what they were talking about. I don't care if it's the weekend or weekday. It's not interesting no matter when you listen. I don't let a clock or calendar tell me what to eat, watch, or listen to. Bloomers is even worse than browneye.

With no offense to Bloomberg's Tom Keene, Ken Prewitt, and Red Eye's Eric and Gary, certainly Ray Taliaferro offers a show with 100 times the ratings. Cumulus should syndicate Ray and that would make more money than either Bloomberg or Red Eye. KGO liberal hosts are about the only hosts that has ever been competitive in the past two decades. Dr. Ray deserves syndication due to his passion, ratings, and longevity.

Nobody listens overnight. Stations stay on the air at night so that people who set their radios to wake them in the morning will tune to their station. In most formats, morning drive is the most important daypart, followed by daytime until 7pm. Then after 7 the typical audience drops about 50% and after 11pm there's another 80% drop. So, it's safe to assume that for most radio stations overnight has less than 1/10th the listeners of morning drive.

The cume can be exceptionally large overnight if the station lacks skywave interference. Sounds like you don't like Ray.

Lots of people listen overnight. Look at all the cars out at night. They have their radios on. Lots of people work weird shifts. I listened at all hours. If/when I woke up in the middle of the night, I'd turn on KGO. My radio goes off after 60 minutes. I'd lay awake and listen for a while often resetting for another 60 minutes. I think the people listening from their beds listen more closely than those in cars during morning drive. You don't station surf from your bed. You do in the car during morning drive. I think there's a lot of bored lonely people living alone who LOVED KGO and listened during all waking hours whatever they happened to be.
