Here’s a translator we can still talk about, with a new owner that plays by the rules.
KHCB has applied to move K218EJ (currently licensed on 91.5) to 89.7, from a tower SW of the intersection of Loop 610 and Highway 288. Power is 99 watts at 170 meters HAAT with the signal suppressed towards co-channel KACC. This will fill in the central part of metro Houston for KHCB’s Spanish language service.

KACC can be heard in the car as far north as I-10, but north of South Loop 610 it is a fringe signal, likely with no listeners outside of hard core radio geeks, so from a practical standpoint they are not losing any audience with the launch of the modified translator. Any word on the future of KACC? There was chatter a couple of years ago that Alvin Communtiy College would either sell it or shut it down.
