KHMX and KLOL to CBS

Now that it's official, let the speculation begin. Wholesale changes in store, or just tweaks? What would work best in the newly expanded CBS Houston cluster?

Mix gets some tweaks CBS-style...
Movin' 96.5?
Actually I can see the basic Kraddick in the a.m., Seacrest in the p.m. drive, and V/T'ed middays and nights.

KLOL? Tough one.

Actually CBS puts money in their product unlikle Clear Channel.

Of course they will make a few tweaks, but Mix is a solid station and a great compliment to KKHH.

KLOL? Tough one.

I hope CBS would do us a favor-Bring KLOL back to the way it should be! Classic Rock mixed with some Alternative and current rock hits. We're so tired of listening to two rock stations at the same time. Less Eagles, Sir Elton & Fleetwood Mac & More Ozzy, KISS, Red Hots, and Nirvana.

I think CBS would flip Mega, so therefore there will be only 2 Spanish Pop/AC Stations here, and we need MORE stations in English.

Less of the same old same! Yes. Seems simple enough...

KLOL is actually doing well, so I wouldn't be too surprised if they kept it as is. CBS does well with Latin formats (DC).

KHMX is kinda off from where it once was, but still a great compliment to the brand with KKHH on its side and should play well together.

Just talking among some colleagues, could Bonneville and LincFin be in play to swaparoo some more stations after a deal like this with CBS?

Ahem... You forgot one more station CBS owns with the Spanish-Language Format: In Tampa, Fla.

And it owns 10% of SBS.

Mix could go after a Hits format and directly go after 104 where 95.7 does not. Similar to 93Q and Legends. KKHH is Urban Hit where as 104 is mainstream hits. 96.5 picks up more of the mainstream and more of a rock sound.

101 Lite Rock...positioned close too 99.1 Sunny a very good position to catch that trout. Hell lets bring back K-Lite!

Like any good move Spanish on 101 may be considered when they sit down and plan.

Mix will most surely have alot of changes. Most likely a staff in house.

Only if they sell it. On the other hand, it is good for a seat on the board and there is a potential for numerous deals sitting there.
Based on the stock market close of 12-15-08, the 10% of SBS held by CBS is worth $410,000.

Of course there will be the typical gutting of Engineering/duplicate jobs first before all of the other fun stuff happens. I know in New York, CBS basically blew everyone out but Opie and Anthony. Hell, CBS took Steve Dahl off the air. But they still owe him 3 years on his huge contract.

Too bad CBS didn't get the KTRH pair. I was hoping of a KNX/WBBM type of news station on KTRH. (They can keep the Mega format on KLOL--former KTRH-FM--as long as KTRH is on the HD-2 channel.)

MIX..Kraddick in The Morning..Take it to the bank.

That's what I said they would do after Malone got ousted. I thought it was a no-brainer. I guess I know now why they held off. Is Kraddick on any other CBS O&O's?

Here's hoping for an Active Rocker or maybe an Urban AC or Urban Oldies to compete with KMJQ.

The bell tolls for KHMX, and KLOL. "CBS Houston - where good stations go to die" Congratulations to the rest of the market. Has anyone checked the daily line for the overs? I'd think around 4 books, maybe a little longer and both stations will be in the plus 15 rank range.

Why is this a no-brainer? Kraddick is a CHR morning show, with CHR artists in studio, that discuss CHR happenings, with the 18-34 CHR demo.

On a small market signal, fine. Have your Hot AC talk about Soulja Boy, Flo Rida, and Lil Wayne all you want.

Market 6? That'd be pathetic. The show should at least fit the format.

What about massive layoffs to save money like they are doing all over the country?!
