Kicks 96 - Richmond

IIRC, Brewer was originally based in Tell City and relocated to Chattanooga. When the old man died one son took over and expanded while the Mom and other son, Jay ran WTCJ in Tell City. WTCJ faded through the nineties and was finally sold to the competitor Bud Walters who relocated the studio 30 miles away in Owensboro, KY. Today WTCJ just takes up bandwidth.

FWIW, Brewer was a launching point for a few who went on to bigger and better things. Denny Nugent started with Brewer and later programed WHAS in the eighties. Greg Strassell began at WTCJ and now a VP/Programming for CBS Boston.

What amazes me is the continuity of ownership at WHON. I was working there when the Brewers bought it -- in 1966! 42+ years is a heckuva run in this day and age. And yes, I did go on to bigger and better things --thanks for giving me a start, WHON! ;D
