KIFR/KEAR Call Letters

Re: All Doghouse, All The Time!

A little colder out there for mornings shows than the Doghouse thought, eh? Your reputation means something in the industry. If people know you're difficult to work with, they'll be hesitant to hire you, even if you are a 'name'.

Savage was able to make make a move to another station because another opportunity appeared just as KSFO was tiring of his act. They low balled him in talks and and basically told him never to come into the station, to broadcast from home. While he was never in danger of losing his show, he was very unhappy at being muzzled off the air.

The Doghouse went down in flames and made sure to burn every bridge before they left KYLD...they may very well end up somewhere, but it won't be w/o some humility.

Know who Super-Commuter John Whalen is? He used to be a big morning presence here in the Bay Area on KNEW in the early 80s. His ratings were decent, but he was infamous for bring a jerk to work with and for. Eventually, he found himself out of SF and had a hard time finding his way back. Whalen was legendary for his screaming fits and dismissive attitude towards everyone...Now, he drives a car around during drive times for KGO. Word spreads and people DO remember.

You don't have to be SUPER nice to everyone, but being professional and polite goes a long way...Ask the Doghouse.

Well said. Speaking as someone with 30+ years' experience in this business -- more than two-thirds of that in programming -- in my opinion, you are dead on.

Given the problems the Doghouse caused before leaving Wild, there is going to be a lot of hesitancy when they are mentioned to programmers. And their reputation is going to precede them in other markets as well.

It doesn't matter how many people might listen to them again (and we know who the president of their fan club is), no programmer is going to risk looking bad to the corporate masters if the Doghouse pulls a repeat.
______________

Some people are on this board to just attack other people instead of just having meaning discussions...

I think that'd be meaningful discussions, but some people are just on this board to be cheerleaders for a show long gone.

Re: stating one's opinion...

Your a rerun with your post. Like some other people that post the same subject or station over and over. You made your point, now go take your vicadin and turn off your radio.
