KIGS 620 AM MIA

KCLQ FM was simulcast on 620 am for a short time When Liggwet owned it

[/quote]

Yes, KNGS 620 dropped Country in the late 80s (88 or 89) for the simulcast of KCLQ.

I'd forgotten about the KLTK incarnation. I had to have known about it, but it must not have impressed me because the memory just isn't there.
I do remember KCLQ and the 620 simulcast.
But not everything sticks anymore.
Something I no longer have strong memories of is the history of the 104.9? in Lemore, KKIQ? KQIQ?
They sounded great around 1979, but I seem to recall them going silent, coming back as Spanish, and adding rock again in the evenings around 1983.
I've been gone from central California for a number of years, and I think absence has dulled the more peripheral memories.

Now that 1400 will no longer have Fox sports, this will give 620 a chance to pick it up.

Sure. Fox sports. Just what Hanford needs. What happens if they sell to someone that wants to program Spanish or religion?? What about Oldies or some other Nostagia format - like English.

No working phone at KIGS either cannot get ahold of Marv Sawyer either this is strange
Wow! Marv Sawyer! I worked one summer at KNGS circa 1965, and Marv was the engineer way back then. That's getting close to 50 years ago. He deserves a well-earned retirement by now.

On another note I noticed that Pierra Broadcasting is credited as being owners since sign-on in 1948. I remember Golden West Broadcasting as being the owner when I worked there. How long has the Pierra family really owned the station?
Correction: Pereira
I
think Golden West Had stations at the coast like KSBY and KSBW

Wrong Company. It was not called Golden West. Golden West Broadcasting was owned by Gene Autry. It was the group owned by John C. Cohen -- Central California Communications Corp. that owned then KNGS 620 Hanford, KSBW Am-Fm-Tv in Salinas and KVEC am / KSBY-TV in SLO.
