Why target two competing and reputable news organizations, when you say you have nothing to hide? This just makes it look like they want to silence the media.

They said Hamas is using the building. Before they hit it, they warned the journalists, so no one was hurt.

The Israel military said it was a legitimate military target, containing Hamas military offices, and that it had given warnings to civilians to get out of the building before the attack.

And, you believe EVERYTHING the Israeli Military says? They claim there's a terrorist behind every door and every tree limb.
How convenient for them that there are fewer sources for news now.

Ronald Reagan said "Trust but verify." The AP has demanded to see proof that Hamas was in the building. The destruction of the building has not lessened media coverage. Both AP and Al Jazeera reported on the destruction of their building, and continue reporting from other locations. The AP referred the matter to the White House, and got this response:

We have communicated directly to the Israelis that ensuring the safety and security of journalists and independent media is a paramount responsibility.

And history has proven that what some see as paranoia is actually the product of what is likely the world's best intelligence operation, Israel's Mossad.

That same organization and quick responsiveness from the government have prevented annihilation of an entire nation.

And I certainly think that there is a greater portion of credibility to be placed with a democratic government than with a universally identified terrorist organization whose stated and published goal is to eradicate Israel and expel the Jews from their historical homeland after nearly being eradicated by a supposedly enlightened European government and its millions of followers.

P.S. My first serious girlfriend had numbers tattooed on her arm. Her parents along with a brother were the only "survivors" of an extended German family of over 100 known living relatives.

And the news bureaus were notified in advance to evacuate; they relocated. The whole building was told to evacuate with broadcasts, knocker bombs that exploded on the roof with no damage but lots of noise, and even flyers dropped from the air advising of an imminent bombing. There are just as many news sources as ever.

Has anyone heard back from the Russians? Those guys could make things very interesting.

The problem is that it is now convenient for both the terrorist organization Hamas and the corrupt Netanyahu to continue this violence.

And, caught in the middle, are 8 million Israelis and 6 million Arabs, most of whom would be happy to just have a job, a home, food, maybe even a car and an occasional vacation. And, to live life in peace with all their neighbors!

The problem is that a portion of the Arab population is not in agreement with Israel as a government, a people and a nation. Their expressed desire is to remove the Jews from the land by whatever means. That is the position of the current Palestinian government and that is not living in peace.

With 14 million people, Israel is about 35% smaller than South Carolina.

Maybe that "portion" of the Arab population doesn't feel that the Israelis are their government. Maybe, they are tired of repression and starvation. Not to mention being killed or their families destroyed by madman politics.
"They are all alike" applies to no one. There are good people in every group.

It's a bit more complicated. On the other side, there is a portion of the Israeli population that sees this as their land, and the current government has promoted Israeli settlements in disputed land. Most recently, they've been expelling Palestinians from their homes in East Jerusalem. Homes that their families have lived in for centuries.

And the reason is security. A well justified reason.

Somehow, this thread keeps making me flash back on a Facebook conversation with several well-known international broadcasters and journalists.
It was originally professionals and friends having a discussion about Middle Eastern issues, but quickly deteriorated to politics and rhetoric, ending when someone proclaimed, "The only good (fill in the blank), is a dead (fill in the blank)."

Why does everything have to be "THEY are ALL that way!!"?

If there was an easy solution, they would have done it by now. There is no easy solution.

But getting back to the media aspect, just demolishing a building doesn't stop news coverage. Journalists are very resourceful in covering stories. If I was the AP, I'd make sure I knew all the tenants in any building I work from. Co-locating with Al Jazeera probably was not a good idea.

Al Jazeera is another well-known news operation. Journalists are mostly cut from the same cloth...they dig for the truth and most try to give us the facts. AP reporters and crews likely trust the Al Jazeera folks pretty well. Plenty of other tenants in that huge building to be suspicious of, I'll bet.

Apparently Tom Cotton makes a crazy allegation that the AP and Hamas connection over the Gaza Airstrikes.

As of now, Israel has presented no proof Hamas was in the building. Neither has Cotton.

I was going to ask if he was from Iowa, or some other flatland state.... I see he is from Arkansas.
Does Arkansas not have multistory buildings, with more than a single tenant?

Jerusalem Post says that the highly confidential intelligence data was presented to the CIA and accepted as well founded.
