I think that KIOL needs a new morning show. I've been involved in radio for many years and I don't think those 2 guys that do the W&J show are entertaining and not a good fit for any rock station. There are a number of reasons that go beyond their low ratings for saying that. Before I give my reasons for saying that W&J are a bad morning show, I need to say that I only listen to them because it is my job to listen to the spots and promos that their station airs. From what I've heard and on and off the air and from my own experience I can say that I don't think these guys understand the meaning of "team players."They constantly take all of their issues with the station and their employees to the airwaves and don't seem to cut anybody any slack. When they first arrive at a new station (because they always have a major falling out with their previous station), very soon they begin griping on the air about engineering problems, such as cd players or the night guy that pushes all the wrong buttons during his shift. Walton always runs the board for their show, but always blames some night guy for leaving buttons and switches on the board in the wrong position for their show. After awhile, they start talking bad about sales and promotions people and their own station management on the air. Sales seem to walk on eggshells around them because they can be very harsh in their criticism for any idea. W&J don't seem to get along and don't seem to want to interact with any other air talent at the station they work for. They don't do free appearances, they command high salaries and huge remote talent fees and expect the red carpet royal treatment. They do not answer to any program director and take differences with station management to their lawyers. Any station that would want to pick up the W&J show should expect to deal with lawyers, and not just during negotiations, but throughout their tenure, it's almost their trademark. They seem to use their live spot clients and then turn on them after awhile. I believe that Johnson "lost" his Stubbs Harley motorcycle while at KLOL, then after they were tired of talking about it on the air and dealing with it, their comments seemed to turn very negative towards Stubbs, when they were the ones out of a new customized Harley. Walton also wrecked a Harley from a Louisiana dealership a few years ago in a New Orleans burb. In short, these guys seem to bite the hand that feeds them...they seem to turn on every station they work for and take all of their complaints about station issues to the airwaves, even naming names.Over the years I have heard both the Fword and the Sword slip out on the air from time to time. Guess they were lucky no one important heard it.Also, these 2 guys are way, way too political for a rock station, any rock station. I mean that they are so serious about their political opinions that they take any of the fun out of listening to a music station. If W&J belong on radio, it would be on shortwave, with all the other political extremists. :-*
