KIRO moving and shaking up the mornings?

I see Linda Thomas is moved into a new department sub titled special features writer etc? Is this step one into replacing or removing other tenants of that slot or is it just thinning the herd a bit?

I was wondering the same thing. Despite her FB post about it being "greatest job I've every had," it smells like a lateral--or even a step down--from what she was doing. And I assume that she won't be co-hosting AM drive. Her new job is being ballihooed like it's something huge, original content, talking to interesting people or whatever strikes her fancy....I don't know, that sounds like one foot out the door. As much as a news station hungers for new, fresh content, I don't think this is going to be earth-shattering as they make it out to be. I wish Linda all the best and I appreciate her positive spin on this, but it would worry me.

It's what most of the long-form morning TV stations already do. Think of Kristi Johnson/KING or what Kaci did at KCPQ before moving to anchor. It was, ironically, a way to "soften" morning TV so it could compete with morning radio shows as a viable alternative that wasn't too heavy to start the day.

Radke's post says he will soon be at another local radio station. Any guesses? Like, maybe, I dunno, KUOW?

Hopefully he's not bumping Lisa Brooks from the ATC Local Host slot. The Sara Lerner/Bernard Ouilette morning train wreck, however, could disappear and nothing would be for the worse.

i'm an ex KIRO listener from the late 70's through 90's. "ex", meaning i rarely have tuned in for any of the news, or news talk since i get better listening on satellite, and internet radio. but, a few months ago, the radio in my out building/shop was tuned to KIRO at night, from listening to "coast to coast" george noory talk, while i did some truck engine maintainance. ...so i get back out there the next morning and KIRO's still on, and i'm a bit too involved in my engine work to go change over to bob rivers show. ..um, ..you still with me here readers? point being, i am laughing my head off at the KIRO host, and his entertaining ad-lib broadcast. that host turned out to be john curley, who was filling in for the regular guy. was not too familiar with curley, or his broadcasts, since i aint much a regular listener. but, i give him the "rare" scott seal of approval here. which is sayin' somethin' 'cause i dont like much anything on the AM/FM radio. good move KIRO!!!! now if curley/KIRO would drop, or update those annoying commercials done for that dentist with the funny name, rye spore?

I mostly listen to KOMO for news and KBAI/KPTK for talk (as well as a lot of CBC Radio One.) KIRO bores me personally......

nice! good riddance to beck. nothing much more than a small/medium market morning zoo crew/switch to conservative talk hack. listening to beck interview ted nugent earlier this year was like listening to some nervous giggly teen age girl interview justin bieber...

on a related topic: michael savage signs new contract with cumulus media network(per WND.com). starts new show 10-23. his new time slot is 3 hours later than his prior show. 6-9 PM west coast time. will KBKW run it? will KVI run it?

So much for the Radke experiment. I had to re-read Linda T's statement about her move. It sort of seems like a bit of a step down(?). She's damn good but I think maybe she and tom t. got tired (burnt out?)of driving the energy into that slot. It wasn't balanced for sure. One of the pitfalls of jaming all those people into the C.R. and expecting an even product to come out the other end... Someone has to pull and push it along and Radke wasn't doing it. Rivers seems to be the only morning host with a barnyard full of animals in his domain that keeps it all sort of moving along. Any news on the afternoons??

Seriously? John Curley?? That says a lot about KIRO's commitment to news and information. They have finally cut the cord.

I just wathced Maura Gallucci do the news, with a few clicks of the mouse no less. No cart machines at all. She said she is now a full time employee, talking to Dori on the air.

Glenn Beck is the #3 talk show in the nation. This could be a big opportunity for KVI or KLFE. Or, and this is really a stretch, is Bonneville putting Beck elsewhere? Any thoughts? The interwebs is awfully quiet about this.
