Kiss 108 and older songs

Will said:
Why do people think Matty is untouchable? He's dull to listen to. How many times do I have to bring this up?

Until the ratings agree with you?

For some reason he's #1 and king of the hill. So for most of Boston he's not dull and unlistenable.

Is the competition any better?

If your choices for dinner were yogurt, a slice of white bread, or a bag of Doritos, the yogurt would look pretty good all of a sudden.

But thats not your choice....there are 30+ choices on the menu.....and Matty is king of the hill.

Unless you think that because YOU don't like him....everyone else either does (or should) feel the same way?

I understand that he's popular, and that I'm not the target demo.

I'm just saying that given a transmitter, I can find somebody better to do a show for that demo.

Well Will if your so sure you really ought to pursue that because his competition has been trying to do that for about 30 years now. You could probably get hired by any of them in an instant if you can only persuade them that your confidence would pay off.

Case in point: This 10 minute interview could easily have been 6 minutes, and you could have played another record:

http://www.kiss108.com/cc-common/me...08.com&SITE_ID=2097&STATION_ID=WXKS-FM&TRACK=

And the 6 could have been 5 and that could be 4...blah, blah, blah...thank you mister consultant.

You say you can find a better show for THAT demo? Which demo is that you speak of? The thing about Matty is that he's winning in the CHR and Hot AC/AC demos. Can you find someone else to do that?

You're welcome. Nobody wants to hear somebody dancing.

I already made a suggestion. I don't need to beat him, I just need to take some of the audience to make money.

Actually, if I signed on a new CHR in Boston, I wouldn't even have a morning show for the first six months. We'll go all tunes. Maybe put a jock in there, but no lengthy features. Chicks don't have attention spans. Keep the show moving.

Never mind their ratings, apparently you know better than them.

Sheesh, is this guy your Messiah? "His station has a nine share! How dare you point out an example of bad radio on His show!"

No, it's just you are setting yourself as a better judge of "bad radio" than the listeners, advertisers, ratings, program directors, research, consultants, management, etc.

Again, talk is cheap. Anyone can come to an anonymous message board and proclaim to be an expert.

And your slighting of women with degrading names and "lack of attention spans" says enough about you and your judgment.

Anyone remember "Somergirls" that came out around 1988. They remixed it to "Somerville" Thay played that remix a lot. Back around then KISS 108 was sounding serious. Around the same year they remixed "Push It" by Salt and Pepper (KISS KISS KISS, KISS 108) (Can't you hear the music pumping loud on KISS 108 now Push it) That was sick!!! I loved that remix.
Around 1990 they had a SERIOUS REMIX they played like twice "Back To Life" by Soul 11 Soul. They had Classical Music in the begginning, then scratches, it was FREEEEKIN DEAF!!! as well as "Giving You The Benefit" By: Peables, they had a PHAT Remix. Some of these songs were hottt Way back in the day they used to be real good "Pull Up To The Bumper"=Grace Jones, "You're the One For Me"-D Train, "Move Out" by Nancy Martinez, and "All in All" by: Joyce Sims to name a few. KISS 108 was SERIOUS back in the day

LAUROJRM are you a young lady? Because if not you are not what Kiss is targeting and trying to keep listening. Now sure they would love to have you and your friends listen too but not at the cost of affecting their target audience which they are doing very well with. All your reminiscing is fun and fine but remember being a "Contemporary" Hit Radio Station means constantly changing with the times to keep today's young audience happy. If you can hold onto older women with some flashbacks the kids can take that's great. But that's as far as your going to go. My guess is your off their radar..??

this topic stated "Kiss 108 and Older songs" that's why I was saying those. I grew up listenning to Kiss 108 and W I L D 1090am, I mostly listenned to KISS 108. I go as far back as the "JoJo Cookin Kincade" days, Jeff St John who was on in the late 80s, Sunny Joe White. Those were the days. Those were the days when we heard "Sidewalk Talk" by Madonna, "Baby Love" by: Regina, that song was the BOMB!!, Spotlight by Madonna
