KJUL 104.7 going off air

Each hour does end with a smooth jazz instrumental.

Thats because ABM no longer has a dedicated PD for only its format and its probably filler so the TOH is met without cutting off a song

KJUL is not doing that format. I've made it clear in my other posts that the songs are soft AC, including a lot of songs that could be played on a standards station, but no actual standards.

The jazz instrumental is there so that a song doesn’t get cut off by the news that airs exactly at the top of the hour.

I've heard a station once that was halfway through a song when the ID cut it off for the news. Some stations play ads until the ID for a few minutes.

Stardust did this sometimes, but I don't recall ABM doing it often. They might have.

One of their affiliates had a contest and played a jazz instrumental before the top of the hour so they could have the information.

WAVO in Charlotte should have fixed their automation equipment because it nearly always started a song five seconds before the station ID which came before the news. WHVN is playing the music now and there is no news.

Spoken like someone who doesnt understand how automation and radio works.

If theyre locally automated, this doesnt necessarily require a fix, but may or may not have a solution.

If they have to meet the ID, at say exactly 59:50 for the live network news at 00:00 that means theyd have to time out every hour down to the second.

You could run news via FTP. IE: Download it at :45 or :55 after (several networks offer this) and simply tell your automation system at :59 after to push out anything left, but let the song thats playing continue till its done, at say :01 after then hit the ID and recorded news.

But some stations understandable so lack the expertise to set that up.

It's all in how they're programmed, locally or satellite. Its all in when avails are open to do that. Some stations will run 2-3 minutes of news right before the ID and news, so they're back into music when others are playing spots. Those stations are possibly locally automated/programmed

what would u estimate the asking price to be
?
KADD 93.5, a just as crappy Vegas rimshot with no revenue or much equipment went for $450,000 recently to a spanish operator. KJUL presumably has some money coming in and a decent studio.. so id wager.. $600,000

Would KJUL be paired KQLL / K27EE ( fm 102.3 ) either to enhance the signal or combine to increase the signal and asking price?? If the resources are correct, the Summit American Inc., struggling and/or looking to get out of the radio business?

I am a tourist to Las Vegas, however since the Pandemic I have been unable to return to sin city.
