I like how the KKFR Wikipedia entry says 92.3 got its construction permit in the early 80s.

You learn something new every day on Wikipedia... ::)
...maybe the CP for the South Mountain stick... but otherwise KJJJ and KTXC were figments of my imagination.

Bring back Disco 92!

Weren't the calls KXTC in that era? Perfect for a Disco station...

Yes, KXTC. Typo. I've been living in TX too long.

Shaw Butte. That stick was relegated to backup status until Fred sold the transmitter & antenna to KNAI.

In spite of the location, KNAI has done pretty darn well up there!

Nurse Jeff and I recall the brouhaha the Beer Baron got into with his TV commercial that said Phoenix's on fire (sfx - sirens) with The Fire Station, KKFR! And somehow we recall CVD being the VO guy as well as PD. Dunno... a lot of bad roach coach burritios for the Buckeye Boyz since then!

But who could forget Smokey the Dancing Bear?

Now, who would've thought we'd have ALL our CHR Rhythmic & Top 40's within today's current topics of discussion on page 1 in the Phoenix section, at the same time?
