KLCK 98.9 Turning to FM Sports

Second guessing stunt programming, this board never disappoints.

You keep making my point with your condescending comments. (I bet you love a certain arrogant individual who is running for President.)

Maybe this board is cursed. Most threads take the route of this thread. I have not even had time to listen to 98.9 but have a good idea of what is going on there. Music library from Moving to KIXI, that's a lot to stunt with.

FWIW the stunting brought me here.

And yes, I'm the only person in my office who knew that a station was broadcast on 98.9.

The Seattle board has the highest level of bitterness on R-I. We are certainly less direct action-oriented than, say, the Houston/Galveston board. Perhaps we all need to go out in the sun tomorrow (or just play in traffic)...62 degrees and clear Thursday!

Get over the fact that 98.9 will probably not play the Norwegian gutterpunk music you seek in about an hour, that half these folks on here pull chains and bust cajones just to get a reaction, and go get some fresh air.

I wonder what Sound Exchange and ASCAP think of stunting with music, Wouldn't it be more frowned on running the same song for over 24hrs?

The 'experts' here are the ones who are bitter. They dislike listener comments and think they have all of the answers. I get bitter with them due to their arrogance.

It's not that we "dislike listener comments." It's that your way of thinking is not the MAJORITY. And I hate to tell you, but that's what we're appealing to.

Who said I'm not a majority listener? Bongwater is the one who likes hippie rock.

And the King of Factoria speaks: (from RAMP)

"Our market research throughout Seattle showed that with only two major FMs serving Rock listeners, a huge opportunity is available for Rock 98-9. We will be Seattle's station for a wide span of Rock, with artists like AC/DC, Foo Fighters, Van Halen, Nirvana and Guns 'N Roses. Rock 98-9 will play the most Rock on the radio in Seattle."

But wait - there's more! Like another hot Seattle radio job opening. This gem from Hubbard's corporate programmer Greg Solk: (again from RAMP)

"Our first mission is to attract a wildly creative, mad-genius programmer to lead this brand and connect with guys in a no-bones, no-bull, entertaining fashion. Rock 98-9 will be unconventional in its thinking and we want a programming leader to build a very unique rock station that's unorthodox, passionate and slightly off-center."

The King adds: “If you would like to live and work in an amazing city with award-winning food and beer, a decent football team and program Rock for Hubbard, let's hear from you."

I give the format 19 months. And my usual advice to the new PD: Rent, don't buy.

My only question is how long "Rock 98-9" will be just that...

So far, music is decent, and the voice guy (forgot his name but he does monster truck spots nationally) is awesome.

I bet the folks at Met Tower are getting the C+D forms filled out right now. They might have a case considering KISW has been "The Rock of Seattle" since the 70's and often adds the "Rock" script to their logo.

I'm smelling another rock war heating up. Not like KISW/KZOK in the 80's or as intense as KXRX/KISW. This one will not be fought not with sabotaging jocks, but with men in suits headed to the county courthouse!
