KLCK 98.9 Turning to FM Sports

I bet the folks at Met Tower are getting the C+D forms filled out right now. They might have a case considering KISW has been "The Rock of Seattle" since the 70's and often adds the "Rock" script to their logo.

I'm smelling another rock war heating up. Not like KISW/KZOK in the 80's or as intense as KXRX/KISW. This one will not be fought not with sabotaging jocks, but with men in suits headed to the county courthouse!

Thank you! I heard him voicing WKZQ/Myrtle Beach, SC during a college spring break one year and I was impressed at how "big market" he made the station sound for being stuck around market #150.

Great rock station v/o artist!

I LOVE David Lee! I've been a fan of his since I first heard him do station ID's for KFMW in Waterloo Iowa back in the early 90's. I'm seriously jealous of his voice.

Had KISW ever called itself "Rock 99.9," there could be a case in trying to sidestep a name, but KISW has always called itself that - KISW. Just using the word "Rock" as an accessory to brand yourself and describe the music you play doesn't provide exclusive rights to that word.

AQH / Marc / Gollum from Lord of The Rings are all one in the same. Wow your sad excuse for a rock station will fail miserably as well. You should have consulted with your wife and her ASS- troligical star charts before flipping. Flip this!
 
I don't think KISW is too worried about Rock 98.9. KZOK should be though. 98.9 is a classic rock station, aimed at piecing off the younger half of KZOK and some of the classic hit crowd. I suspect it will do quite well; from a music point of view they have it pretty well nailed. Remains to be seen what else they have in store.

Do you truly believe Marc Kaye takes time out of his day to post on this board? I wouldn't think so, but I guess it isn't impossible.

That would depend only if KISW had trademarked "The Rock 99.9" or some variant in Washington in germane to a Seattle FM radio station and how much damage or confusion it causes Entercom. If they did trademark it and they feel like it's a BIG problem, they'll send out a C&D letter to Hubbard. If it's not, it's not.

And we have a winner. Only question is whether the music will stay focused and consistent. As Click the music direction was anything but.
 
From cursory listens, it appears that 98.9 is doing pretty much only tested stuff with a robotic musical presentation (despite the awesome voiceovers by Dave Lee) while KISW goes a bit deeper musically and sounds more human-curated.
