Mike publicly shitting on the KROQ audience who got angry online after Kevin and the rest of the morning show were fired didn't help either.Mike was in a tough situation. very few core artists in 2020-21 were touring or releasing new music. He had no choice but to play and promote artists no one heard of and still doesn’t get played anywhere to this day
It makes moneyKROQ should have flipped formats a long long time ago. How is it still around?

If that's true... this is all trying to get a slice from the same section of moose turd pie.Last I checked Kline ally show is #1 in AM drive in multiple demos and have taken a huge chunk of woody listeners away (and KLOS men). I see this as a smart strategic move and also see that KROQ middays have only gone up since they started doing the morning show into that day part. What am I missing here?
He killed Alt 92.3 in New York.As for KROQ in the Kaplan era, there were alternative stations that still got OK ratings in that era, including his old station (KYSR), which had better than OK ratings. He simply wasn't up to the task at KROQ and took the station down an ill-advised path. It's as simple as that.
Within six months of his departure from Audacy, several of their alternative stations witnessed significant AQH share improvement. More rock-based artists were played. The horribly implemented "two minute promise" was ditched. Polarizing artists were reduced or removed from airplay. An untalented afternoon drive talk host was cancelled from several Audacy alternative stations. Familiar gold was boosted and slots for currents were scaled back. These straight forward changes brought almost immediate improvement to stations such as KVIL, KROQ, WDZH, and even though it's now gone, WSFS.
Airing warmed over morning show bits at 10PM (or any other evening slot) will do little to drive audience to the morning show.

Did you hear how sloppy most of the stations under his control sounded, especially during his first 18 months or so at Audacy?
You mean during covid? When most of the staff was working from home under circumstances no one could have predicted?

I noticed shortly after Mike Kaplan left Kysr Alt 98.7 there ratings were improving..Why audacy hired him is beyond me...Woody from the woody show when Mike was PD of the station always said Mike was a GR8 guy but he said was not good at his job!!!How come no one else's stations faced the same litany of tech issues for months on end? You act as if every station on FM sounded crappy from a programming standpoint in 2020 & 2021. The vast majority of stations sounded perfectly fine.
The tech glitches at Audacy's alternative stations were awful. The Cane Peterson & Corey morning show stunk. The imaging stunk. The two minute promise was stupid. The music choices were misguided. COVID had little to do with any of the above.
He was a horrible format captain. Within a few short months of his departure, fortunes of the stations previously under his control improved substantially.
Also, look at Philly. WRFF has performed significantly better since he left.
