That time tone isn't WWV but Radio Reloj Havana. It's an all news format but instead of a teletype they have a time tone behind the anchors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Reloj
Radio Reloj isn't very accurate, however...as much as 20-25 seconds off. Stick to WWV or CHU to set your watch.

Yeah, I think the tape in that 1966 Russian made cart machine they use is worn out. Does anybody remember the guy in Fort Worth who used to rebuild tape carts? ;D

His name was Bob...Bob, something. Just can't remember. He and his wife owned and ran the place. First time I went there I was greeted by a 4' tall hand-with-middle-finger-extended. The first thing out of his mouth to me was "How long have you been a member of the party?" I was like, HUH? "Well" he said, "you have a beard, so you MUST be a member of the communist party!"
Definitely the kind of person you have to get used to. What a hoot!!! Mark Bradford at Crouse-Kimzey (proaudio.com) knew them quite well and was constantly amused by his banter.
Uncle Pudd, I've sent you a couple of private messages, one just recently. Did you receive them, or just observing "radio silence?"
Ya'll aren't talking about The Cart-Mart, used to be on E. Loop 820 in Ft Worth. They were co-located with Professional Audio Supply, yes?
Wonder what's in that empty warehouse now..... could it be regional offices for Townsquare Media. I hear that is somewhere in the same vicinity. I just haven't found the right trailer park yet. Bet there in a single wide though.
In 2002 I went on a cruise in the Caribbean and heard WBAP, KRLD, and KLIF while sitting on a deck chair at night. WBAP was the strongest. Like a local....not far from grand Cayman.
During/after Sandy here just north of NY City I was able to pick up WBAP when WNYC went off the air Monday evening (they just returned with low power on Sat. 11/3).
On the same frequency I also picked up WWFD Frederick, MD.
At the same time, WMCA 570 NY went off the air (still off, BTW), but I really couldn't pick up anything in its stead.
WBAP and KLIF, KMKI and KSKY can be faintly picked here in Northwest Arkansas even during the daytime, especially in the winter. I could barely make out KSKY in Fayetteville a couple of days ago at 2pm.
It seems like WBAP daytime signal used to get out further than it does now...would IBOC affect that at all?
In Titus County (NE TX) WBAP seemed almost local prior to their tower relocation in 1984. It's weak there during the day since then. Probably had the same effect in Arkansas.
..during the day? I know 570 is fuzzy towards Temple to protect 590 from Austin. KLIF'S 5,000 watts seem to get out far according to Radio Locator, but on the other hand I've heard WBAP in Round Rock during the day. Funny thing is WBAP has 50,000 watts.
Surely isn't KRLD...i pick up some identifiable talk station at about 1/3 volume on 1080 in the background of KRLD in west fort worth fairly consistenly.

I'd be real curious as to any info you could give me on the signal you receive in west FTW under 1080 KRLD and the times of day? Here in Collin County on US 75 near the border with Grayson County I receive the station out of Mexico at night at about 1/5 to 1/3 signal strength, basically audible during audio nulls on KRLD-AM. I've heard it in my Mazda CX7 on the factory radio. I've been told that the Mexico station is heard plainly under 1080 in EAST Texas, but I'm unaware of any station heard in FTW.
Feel free to PM me or email if you'd rather keep the thread on topic.
Maybe you recall seeing soemthing to that effect in one of my posts, except that XETUL Toluca hasn't been the one showing up lately. Instead Cuba's Radio Cadena Habana gives KRLD fits in East Texas.

You are correct. I believe that was posted in the DX forum.
Back on topic...
Here at my location 10 miles north of McKinney, listening on an ICOM 756 Pro with a 160 meter Inverted V antenna I find that the RF signal level comparison daytime WBAP is 10db higher than KLIF again during the daytime. This is using the spectrum scope as a reference. I also show the same indication on the analog "S" meter.
I'll check comparisons on the nighttime pattern around 10p and report back. It should be interesting since RL shows I'm located in the nighttime KLIF signal null roughly centered around 30 degrees...
