Has anyone here noticed the change in format for KLOL now becoming a pop rock station and going after Xo 107.9 I cant say much but major changed are comming to the cc Houston Cluster.....
KLOL went to a pop/rhythmic/light tropical format during the Winter book, in a gradual transition, cutting the reggaetón from 10 or so an hour to two, and limiting the English hip hop to 2 cuts also. The rest is bachata / salsa / merengue about 2 to 3 cuts and 3 to 5 Spanish pop and ballad. The transition was pretty much set for the start of the PPM in April.
At the same time, they let go of the Mexicanz, on KPTY now because they were too English, but they have not got much of a morning presence still, about 5 months after the changes started.
The format is hardly pop/rock when you consider that they are plaing stuff like Aventura and Juan Luis Guerra. Where did you get the idea that they were pop/rock? In fact, the format was developed at WMGE in Miami late last year, and slightly adapted for Houston. It has done very well in PPM, becoming the Hispanic cume leader, although it does not do as well in share, where it is #3 behind KLTN and KOVE's big numbers.
