Because Fahrid is cheap, overpaid for the ABC stations he acquired and he's got a huge balloon payment to make Summer 2009.

i wish i could say the same for myself... but its sstill not working... all it says is stopped right under where it says now playing... and i tried pressing all the buttons, but im still SOL

I think KLOS quit being "Legendary" quite some time ago. The station is nearly unlistenable outside of Ladd's show and the Underground Garage.

"Breakfast with the Beatles" has become "Chris Carter incesantly talks about the Beatles" - Cue six minutes of straight commercials...

Citadel seems like just the type of company that could kill a once-great station off for good as it commits its own corporate suicide.

He's cheap...but he overpays?? Seems like a contradiction.

Agreed.

Except when they do the A to Z marathon. Best thing ever!

You are correct sir! The show is now all about CC and incidentally about the Beatles, which is of course backwards. The other day he had a boy band on to pitch something (Jones Band perhaps) and he was desparately trying to tie their appearance into the Beatles. Yeah, nice try.

In case you don't know, there is another Beatles show that runs on KCSN at about the same time, it's much less slick but there is barely any chatter. And it keeps going after Chris runs out, which is nice.

Not only Citadel; but Infinity and Clear Channel are excellent at that too.

Dittos to both of you; that is a huge reason why those of us who grew up during radio's heyday (late 50'-mid 80's) have soured on the music station portion of the industry--it just isn't a good listen anymore. Periodocally, maybe, but for long time periods, no.

As a side note before I get started, the only time I listen to a music station at work is when my iPod's batteries die.

Corporations have only one thing on their minds, and that is to make money for their stockholders. I certainly know that, if I owned a radio station that was barely breaking even, and a corporation offered me a bundle of bucks for it, ..... well, money talks. But it would have to be a huge amount of money; otherwise, the corporation can go pound sand, I ain't sellin'.

Yup, you're right. I grew up listening to KDAY in the days of Hunter Hancock and Art Laboe; KFWB in the days of Bill Ballance and B. Mitchell Reed; KRLA with Sam Riddle and Bob Eubanks; KHJ with Robert W. Morgan and Don Steele. I also listened to KMPC (AM) with Gary Owens and Roger Carroll; and KABC (AM) with Don Mackinnon.

Another side note: When I was on the air in Sacramento (as a part-time fill-in guy during the early 60s) it was usually the graveyard shift, the same shift that Don Mackinnon had at a competing station across town. I had met Don years before when he was at KABC; and I would call our competition and put Don on the air, while he did the same thing at his station. We would trade jokes and do funny news clips for about 5 minutes. We did this, usually, between 3 and 4 AM, just to see if each of us was awake. It saddened me to learn that Don was killed in a car crash later in the decade. He was a good talent.
