I've been listening to this station the past few days. Very interesting, to say the least. They appear to be rebroadcasting WTAN-AM 1340, a small suburban Tampa Bay AM, based in Clearwater, Florida. The Legal ID identifies WTAN, KLRG, and another small AM which is located on the other side of the Tampa Bay metro.
On their website, they bill themselves as K-Large, the Little Rock Giant, and as a 50,000 Watt Super Station. The daytime signal is impressive here in Conway, but it disappears completely after dark. I'm not sure of their directional pattern, but I'm assuming they have to protect KRVN/Lexington, WCBS/New York, and possibly first-adjacents WLS and WWL as well (?)
Audio quality is poor. Both Imus in the Morning and Alan Jones (afternoons) sound as if they're being delivered via extremely low bit digital feeds.
Most interesting of all are the promos I have heard, soliciting people to come in and do their own radio shows. I assume they're selling blocks of time to whomever wants them (?) "Call today and you can be on the air next week!" Is this a sign of innovation or desperation? I'm not sure.
Anyone else have comments and/or insights on this station?
