KLTO Full power now?

Looks like KLTO is on full force, dont know what they plan to do but right now they seem to be simalcasting KCOR. Hope this wont really effect how I recieve 97.9 the box.

Gues I caught it at the right time while on the road a while ago, looks like a good power up towards Austin // San marcos area, I would like to see how it goes frother south, would it be back on soon? I noticed it was off again a while ago.

So Romeo, What are the plans for KLTO (now that you seem to be the PD) I throw my bet for La Kalle or something that will compliment The Beat in sells.

Looks like Hurban arrives to SA again on 97.7 They turned it on this afternoon sometime or another. Just heard it a little tonight sounds pretty good.

La Kalle 97.7 Reggaeton Y Mas

La Kalle 97.7 Reggaeton Y Mas!! Glad to see Univision bring back La Kalle to S.A.!!!

KLTO/San Antonio Now "La Kalle"

R&R has confirmed that Univision Radio flipped tejano station KLTO (Tejano 97.7)/San Antonio to Latin rhythm "La Kalle, Reggaetón y Más."

La Kalle's PD is John "Romeo" Medina, who was APD at cross-town clustermate CHR/rhythmic KBBT (the Beat) and was on air in afternoons.

They got a good SQ on the station, sounds good. I have heard a few english hiphop in there as well.

WAS on air on the beat and WAS apd? Are those not his titles anymore? Will he be replaced?

What is the coverage like for La Kalle 97.7? On Radio-locator.com it seems poor in San Antonio and greater in the areas between Buda (South Austin) and Live Oak (East SA). I haven't been to SA since summer so maybe I could be informed as to how easily the station is picked up in the city limits. Is it simliar to the strength of 104.1? 95.7?? or 103.7??? Surely it's better than 92.5.

Re: KLTO Full power now? (Austin Reception)

Hey Guys,

Just to let you know, I am able to pick up 97.7 from here in central Austin (near UT). This is on a small hand-held Sangean radio. Its not crystal clear, but the reception is surprisingly good. I also picked it up in my car radio coming into work in far north/northeast Austin.

Re: KLTO Full power now? (Austin Reception)

They also have a good shot through the Victoria market area, San antonio is probably about 50% of the city covered by the station, but the good thing is I gues, there is really no other station on that frequency. That was a lot of the problem with digitl 104.1's signal was KRBE and KBFM.

I can also pick it up from South Austin but only in my car, not so much on my radios at home. Is the station at full power or is this the best we will be able to pick up in Austin? Driving around in Austin you can't pick the station up all the time while it can come in for a bit in parts of north Austin it dosn't stay clear and fuzzes out completely. Even in downtown it is hit and miss. I would love for this station to be clearer in this area.

They are mainly a San antonio station, they are trying to get it in the metro area. That will probably be the best it will get in Austin unless they get a translator for that area for it.

Have to say, I like how is sounds so far! Better than Mega 101 in Houston! I was able to pick up the station over outside of College Station in my truck's radio!
The signal was then quickly lost over by Navasota thanks to KBXX HD signal (man, their HD sidebands are really strong). I guess it will not be unusual to pick it up over here since I am able to pick up KIOX, KXGJ, KMKS, and KJOJ clearly on some days. Most of the days, these stations just come in with little interference.

WELCOME BACK LA KALLE!

CONGRATS ROMEO! BUT KEEP THE STRIPES....WE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME... :'(

BETTER SAFE THEN SORRY.

WHATS UP WITH THE SIGNAL...I CANT EVEN GET IT CLEAR AT 410 AND BANDERA?

IMAGING SOUNDS KINDS NICE......

2+ years ago the plan was to move the signal to The Tower Of Americas. Does anyone know if this is still pending or was this dismiss?

It was longer than that. That plan (which began over six years ago) is essentially over, with no pertinent FCC activity noted since August 2005. It involved many stations and proposed allocations (23, as I counted once) and consisted somewhat of a northern and southern tier. In the north, a key frequency was 97.5, planned as a Class C move-in for D/FW. There are now two stations on 97.5, one a C2 rim-shotting from north of town and another way out northwest. It's unlikely any of what has happened up there will be "undone" or further modified to any significant degree, so the southern tier of the plan is kaput. That part would have made major changes to stations in Waco, Austin and San Antonio. KAJA 97.3 would have switched to 96.9 under the scheme, clearing the way for 97.7 to move all the into SA. Legal and engineering fees, likely in the millions of dollars, have been spent on this far-reaching plan and it's unlikely to be brought back from the dead. So with KLTO, the signal you hear is what you'll get, barring something miraculous down the road.
