Seems like the new station is bleeding all over 870, 860, 850 in the daytimes

Sounds over modulated to me..Also bleeding on to 910 & 920

Mario....first of all, I hope everything with you is OK after the earthquake.

Of far less importance....I'm assuming this explains what I was hearing on 890 in Nor-Cal. Santa Rosa and Yountville, day and night.

I don't know, They also coming in loud in Vallejo

Mario, it looks to me from Radio-Locator that Vallejo is about 40-45 miles from KMJE's tower. My experience when I was in Santa Rosa and Yountville, back at the end of August was that the 890 signal was stronger than what Radio-Locator would indicate. At least in the daytime. It's pretty common knowledge that the Radio-Locator maps aren't already accurate. But given what you're saying about KMJE overmodulating and bleeding, it may be that there could also be other issues with the physical plant...including their DA. They also had a pretty steady night signal at my brother-in-law's house in the high desert east of Los Angeles. Although with 480 watts, that wouldn't be completely impossible.

If it were still the 70's, you would be able to hear WLS Chicago at night where you are.

When I was in Vacaville for the summer 1977, WLS was listenable most nights.

When I was in Vacaville for the summer 1977, WLS was listenable most nights.

Regarding 890, in the 60s through most of the 80s WLS had a gigantic nightime signal, especially to the south & west.
I also heard WLS in Northern California in the 60s & 70s. I regularly heard WLS on my trips to Southern California. Often the signal was so good I could hear it on a car radio with a very listenable signal. Sometime in the mid to late 80s, KDXU in St George, Ut went 24 hours and that was the end of hearing WLS on the west coast--at least from my experiences.

WWL and WLW were also listenable regulars most nights in the 70's in northern California.

And when the stations on the same frequencies in the middle of the country went off the air late at night, I was able to sometimes hear a weak WCBS New York and WCAU Philadelphia.

Those were the days!

I have heard WLS twice in four years, probably. Once from Seattle and once from Yakima. WBBM/WGN are common when eastern conditions are good, WSCR is rarer, WJR is also rarer, but I have heard them. I heard WYLL-1160 one really good night from Western Washington with an ID in the KSL null. I have heard NOTHING from WQEW, or WBZ, or WABC. But I did hear WBCN 1660 Charlotte, NC a few weeks ago! A very shocking 4AM ET/1AM PT TOH ID mentioning WKQC-HD3 and WBCN Charlotte. I've got a tape with an ID posted on one of my "new log" threads.

I never heard WABC in California back in the 70's because KOB was too strong. I could sometimes hear something else a little in the null of KOB but it was probably the station in Seattle.

660 was an empty frequency then at night in northern California but I never heard WNBC. The most I ever heard was a very weak what sounded like a carrier signal that would make a fluttering sound with the sound we used to hear on AM from the old CRT TVs.

But nothing audible ever rose above that noise all the times I listened anyway. Surprising because I did get WCBS and they both share the same tower.

Never heard WBBM because of the then KCRL in Reno.

Heard WABC in the 60s in California & Seattle when KOB was off the air on Sunday nights. Also got WNBC & WBZ. Heard WCBS in California as late as early 80s when KRVN was off the air at midnight CST.

You guys definitely have me beat! I've never heard New York or the rest of he eastern seaboard on the west coast. Closest I've come is WBZ one night in Flagstaff, AZ. I have, however, heard WWL and the Chicago blowtorches on numerous occasions, including underneath the current ocupants of their channels. (WMAQ/WSCR being the least frequent) I'm especially impressed with crainbebo snagging WYLL. They're tough duty at night even in Iowa. The 1660 from Charlotte is a great catch as well.

Ok, this problem is still on, Do the Engineers at the transmitter site really care if it comes in really loud & bleeding all the way up to 910 and down to 860

I really want this to Stop

I've heard WYLL twice, once tentative, the other time verified when I heard references to Chicago as well as the program matching the schedule online.

It was on a TRF (Can't remember exactly -- I remember hearing it without the loop and better with, if memory serves) and when KSL was weak but conditions were good to the Midwest (I.e., KSTP was loud, KXEL was in a local station's null). I think one of the nights was when crainbebo also heard it. A good DX night that night.

WSCR has come in several times underneath KBOI. Lately I've heard the Las Vegas sports station more, though.
