KMTT's Hiring

Mike West

I heard Mike West QUIT because he was tired of getting up at 3:30 in the morning...

No hint by him on-air beforehand - - no goodbye show...

Typical Entercom cluster...

First they force Mike West out, now Shawn.

Yup, two people in a year. A virtual bloodbath.

Station has not been the same since Chris Mays left. She was the best PD in town, next to Shelly Hart and Lisa A. Strong women.

Chris may want to come back. She is getting killed at Alice in SF which has gone from a 2.6 to a 1.5 share since she arrived. HOT/AC is a dead format. HOT/AC is damn tough and in top 15 markets they have no place. KPLZ looks like a giant compared to Alice in SF and we all know how lame KPLZ is. My hope is Chris comes back to AAA in Seattle where she belongs.

Former Seattle PD, Mike Preston is also getting killed with MOVIN in SF. He saw the station kill his KBKS in Seattle and thought it was easy to replicate. Guess there is more to programming it than just music. MOVIN in Seattle is a giant compared to Preston's bad imitation.

Bring Chris back to save AAA in Seattle. KMTT barely a two share in their target demo this last trend. Women PD's rule!

SF is a difficult market, not the same as Seattle at all. There is a huge hispanic population that changes the radio landscape. In Seattle Country does well, in SF it is a non-factor. In SF, KGO dominates the entire market and does well 25-54, in Seattle the AM's do not do well in prime demographics. Alice was a troubled station before Chris arrived, but she has not helped it. MOVIN is a mess, but in Seattle MOVIN is not looking much better. I am not sure if it is Mike Preston's fault or if the format just does not work. MOVIN in LA is awful too. It didn't even get the momentum of JACK, it died much quicker. Most professional media buyers stayed away from JACK and even the least professional stayed away from MOVIN.

Mays is not the genius some people think she is. They say she brought morale to an all time low before she left KMTT. Same at her station in SF. Strong does not equal Smart.

KMTT

..however, it takes a SMART station to KNOW it's strong...

:)

I take it we can count on you sending your resume to Entercom for this job opening?

i just love how a thread about the mountain turns into a thread about Movin. and they were wrong when they said people with ADHD belong in radio.
