I finally took the time to stream Movin' 93.9 to see what all the griping is about... because I mean, c'mon, surely a station that's spent millions for promotion and hired Dees can't sound that bad, right?
Uughhh.... it's pretty bad.
1. Do they run the same promos that they do on the stream? I just heard about 5 promos in a row (that would be scattered throughout the day on-air) about how "I listen to 93.9 because it's that station where people shake their butt." The ad is funny as a novelty...but to build a whole campaign around it with fake listener calls really makes the station sound despereate. "What do we have to advertise? ..... Oh, quick! Promote the butt shaking commercial."
2. Dees sounds too formatted. He sounds like a Hot AC jock in market #30. Is Emmis holding him back? He just took contest listeners who had to guess "what song is that? You're right....the Backstreet Boys!" Wow! That was tough!
3. How can you play Akon and Donna Summer in the same hour?
In the end I am very disappointed. I always dreamed of a station rising up to challenge KIIS and become a great LA contender again. Movin' is sadly a step in the wrong direction.
