KMVP Sold

Bonneville Sells KMVP-A
BONNEVILLE INTERNATIONAL CORP. is selling Sports KMVP-A/PHOENIX to AIM BROADCASTING LLC for an undisclosed price. CALIFORNIA-based AIM is run by President/CEO JOHN DOUGLAS and owns one other station, Talk KLAV/LAS VEGAS.

Maybe spots will be inserted into the loop now?

I doubt sports will be in the loop unless someone ponies up the $$$ for it. AIM Broadcasting runs brokered programming on its Las Vegas station.

I can practically guarantee there will be no SPORTS in the loop (that has to be a part of the sale agreement, right?). But what I said was SPOTS.

Gotta be pretty low if it's undisclosed! The Nurse and I will miss Sports Siberia 8~Sixty as much as Paris Hilton will miss the LA County jail.

Isn't this the company that is operating (and in the process of buying) KSAZ 580? Will Mike Barna somehow be involved in the operation?...

Look above, he said SPOTS!!! NOT SPORTS!!!!! I'll admit that I first read sports, but looked again and saw spots

Maybe it's a hedge against their application to move the COL of the Giant 580
to Queen Creek...and go daytime only.

BTW, where KSAZ Marana used to have two identical-appearing applications
(for the COL move) in their FCC AM Query listing, now there are three!

Yes, but they also operate KRLV/Vegas.That's right, two Class C brokered holes for the price of one. Because there just wasn't enough room on KLAV for all the Lithuanian music and Zulu chants.

As to Mr. Barna, perhaps he can run 860 as successfully as he did KFNX. Within two years, Bonneville will come back, resume control, and run gold infomercials to make a tidy profit.

What would they do with the call letters. Not sure how ownership of call letters go, but I think KMVP would be worth a lot to any sports station.

AIM would retain the call letters and they could be sold off to the highest bidder.. Other station call letters that were purchased in the market for cash "KFYI".

As far as Mikey Barna I have heard he is having alot of fun in Tucson with KSAZ it is cash flowing, plus he spends much of his time at his house in Santa Barbara but still lives in Ahwatukee. AIM could close any day on the 580 property. Also Barna was quoted in the Tucson newspaper last week saying there would be no move into Queen Creek for KSAZ 580 unless they had a pwr increase both day and night. They would put more towers up just north of Phoenix for the night time signal and they have three years to decide. More than likely he will run KMVP as well and I would guess studios will be in Phoenix. I hear 580 just fine in the east valley.

So when does 860 The Loop change...the loop?

"Set your radio now to the Giant 580. Timeless classics,
Dancin' Danny Babich, and Colon Blow Saturdays.
That's the Giant 580, KSAZ. Disregard this message
between sunset and sunrise......KMVP Phoenix."

(Repeat)

$3.8 mil? A little steep for a station billing $0 with a marginal day signal and horrible night signal in an expanding market. Oh, and one that could be booted from its tower site in the not too distant future. How much do you want to bet we'll see the return of NBC 1190... only on 860! The Hawaiian music show from AIM's KLAV could be simulcast!

Either that, or Nova-M could (if they were smart and AIM was willing to lease it out) talk to them about LMA'ing the station and get themselves out of the 1480 graveyard.

But where will the current sports PBP on 860 (Mercury, Rattlers, & ASU women's hoops, the only actual programming remaining on the station) end up? TMISU don't have anyplace to put them. Wouldn't suprise me Robert Sarver & Lisa Love kept them right where they are unless KDUS wanted them. I don't think Sarver would take the Rattlers to rival XTRA, and they wouldn't want the Mercury. ASU baseball is already on 1060 and I think they carried the women's basketball games a few years ago when then-KUET 710 went Spanish. But there's just no room on either 620 or 92.3 for anything else.

KDUS has ASU baseball and splits ASU women's hoops with AZ Gold 1440 currently, no idea what's going to happen with the rest of ASU sports though, but I think the contract is up for renewal.

KXAM was running ASU women's basketball, no?

Won't happen. KLAV/Vegas brings in halfway decent money for being a godawful, thoughtlessly run brokered hole. At the least, they could do that.

Slight correction: Robert Sarver sold the Rattlers to Sacramento Kings' co-owner Bobby Hernreich 2 years ago. The Rattlers' radio home will be up to him, not Sarver. My bad.
