For show, it works - for function, I agree that it's better to have an updated forecast.
I was told by a friend in the RRR building that channel 8 is trying to get more in bed with Americom/RRR - so that may be related to the falling out.
On an off note, KKOH has some really poor sounding news announcers at night (when I can hear them more clearly here in the Sacramento Valley). For a station with such a big singal (albeit pointed northwest, west and southwest) at night, you'd think that they would at least put some decent-sounding people.
I suspect they just put on whoever is running the board for Coast To Coast AM. Come to think of it, I guess it doesn't matter when your programming matches that of hundreds of others on the AM band at night - not that C2C is a bad show as I enjoy it as I surf many a night.
My local 650 KSTE has generic rushed-sounding Clear Channel national news headlines - but at least with decent-sounding annoucers...
