Las Vegas KOMP FM

They are in the mid 1's so far as shares go a place you don't want to be. How many people think KOMP will flip formats? Break out demo how do they rank?

As a KOMP fan, when in Vegas......I ask, what happened? Did a much-loved air talent leave that put a big dent in listernership?

It was mentioned on here that it’s sold in combo with KXPT, so that helps it out somewhat.

I can’t imagine they’d put a 45 year old format out to pasture like that. Maybe a music tweak to differentiate it more from KYMT?

It may be a 45 year-old format but if it isn't making any money and no one's listening... Does anyone care about the heritage? If an old beloved tree falls in the forest but no one's around to hear it, does it make a sound? I don't know. I also don't know what, in Vegas, is an open format hole. Lots of different variations of classic rock and hits already, current formats are covered, at-work formats, spoken for, country -same deal. More Spanish?

There is 1 format missing.

I highly doubt komp will flip to classic country
Correct. KOMP will be fine. Changes have been made in music and voices. It sounds fine, and serves as a marketing vehicle to target a demo that other stations don't. I really don't see a problem. Vegas is so under-metered that these ratings really need to be taken with a grain of salt. Keep calm and radio on!

Vegas has a higher proportion of meters to the population than LA has. It is not "under metered".

It takes four times the sample to improve accuracy by one standard error. They are not going to add 3,000 meters to Vegas.

Don't 93.1 and 107.5 target demos similar to 92.3?

KXTE seems to be wiping the floor clean with 92.3 of late.

I am happy to see 92.3 finally changed its corny voiceover imaging. Listened for a bit online earlier today (overnight Vegas time). The new material definitely sounds better.

I think Vegas will get an FM sports station at some point within the next few years, possibly as a replacement for one of the rock stations.

Are the Raiders still on 920?

If they’re lucky enough to pick up the A’s during/after their hotel stay in Sacramento, that may be the eventual direction of 92.3. It’d be worth the wait (and the cash) for Lotus…assuming KOMP hasn’t had some sort of rebound by then.

One thing I’ll give Lotus credit for is they don’t drop an underperforming format quickly. They waited better part of 5 years to shake up the Seattle cluster they purchased.

I just returned from a weekend in Las Vegas. Can't help but notice there's not much 90's pop on the dial (Yup.....talking Bob or Jack). I know 100.5 was Jack a while back. Not sure why it failed; and, was it 106.9 that tried BOB? That station has a pretty spotty signal from what I recall. Three Vegas stations that play Linkin Park, but nobody that focuses on Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, Third eye blind, Alanis Morrisette, Sheryl Crow, etc. Other stations might sprinkle it in, I don't know. 106.5 was already into Christmas tunes before Veterans Day (ugh). There's a pretty good selection for rock fans on Vegas radio.
