KOOL Air Staff Changes

KOOL is changing their midday jock. Jeffrey T. Mason is leaving (he says it's his idea
--he wanted to "cut back" http://kool.cbslocal.com/2012/11/02/jeffrey-ts-final-blog/).

Weekender Charlie Huero will fill the midday slot, at least for now.

BTW...KOOL was #1 (6+) in the latest ratings released this week.

Never liked that guy on the air. He did country in Miami. Sucked. Still sucks at oldies. Sounds like a little kid. Several years ago I was in radio in Miami and visted a remote he was doing.Acted like I total jerk to me and my wife. Ego Tripper and I hear is a cancer at every station he's worked at. AND THAT'S A LOT!!

Good move KOOL!!

(cue Chickenman anncr) Wellllllllll...

Tired of jocks who suck and Oldies that suck even more? Then try SeeBS' KLUV HD2 from Big D: http://betaplayer.radio.com/player/k-luv-oldies Great music, great jingles, great production. The Nurse and I'd like to hear this on Lumberyard 14~Forty instead of their wornout library. KLUV HD2 is better on iTunes if you've got it...and more than KOOL!

That's too bad... I personally thought he was one of the best in Valley radio. How about Christopher Lance... is he still doing Nights for KOOL?

A tip of the Stetson your way from Big D!
I'm the "VO/image talent" (I use the word "talent" loosely) on KLUV Oldies HD-2 in Dallas. My "real" day job is Chief Engineer of the CBS O&O 105.3 The Fan also in Dallas. Thanks for mentioning the KLUV Oldies HD-2 stream. Now where do I send the check? ;D

Nurse Jeff will gladly receipt your check. And if there are enough zeros to the left of the decimal point, he'll send you my three page, photo laden best seller: Everything I Know About Radio. Always glad to hear from a legendary former McLendon station. If only Fairchild had......well, you know the rest.

Dr.
After 40+ years my version of the book "Everything I Know About Radio" is written all the way through page 3 titled "So You BS'd Your Way Into The Job, Now What?" ::)

I'm now working on the talent coaching page which includes helpful direction on correct inflections for the phrase "Would you like Fries with that" and other useful pro-nnouncer tips...

Please note: I always make it a point to drift by the Phoenix/AZ pages to catch the latest words of wisdom from the Buckeye Media Hut.

I note with great sadness the "Lamptimer/Lumberyard" post has drifted off the front power rotation page into the land of re-currents. Please keep the nation informed of any changes, inquiring minds NEED to know.

That lame thread could have hit 100k if only Gumpdusky didn't purchase a new Nautel and made Lumberyard 14~Forty an actual fulltime station! The lamptimer resides on catfish's mantle (or the bottom of the Crosscut Canal) and that damned new xmttr hits the power up/power down precisely on time. catfish (always lower case "c", señor) even has the pre and post power settings programmed, although Nurse Jeff and I disagree with his interpretation. So what in the Wide, Wide World of Sports are the Middle Eastern Men of the Media to do?

But back to topic: KOOL is a great station and has been for decades. The only bump in the road came a number of years ago when they jumped the gun on All Ho-Ho-Ho music one Halloween evening. However they've since atoned for their sins and 94~Five remains one of our favorite pre-sets on the Gremlin's radio. Regardless of air staff changes :D

In an act of self promotion, let me add The 70's With Steve Goddard which airs Saturday mornings 7-10am. Appreciate it. - Steve

Another great element of KOOL's lineup... KOOL Nights. It's great to be able to call a radio station, make a request, and hear your song within 15 minutes.

I think sometimes we all miss those days... thank you KOOL for keeping some old school radio alive for us!

I always thought the overnight jocks took calls to stay awake. ;D

Is that available on cassette as well? And when will you be coming to the Buckeye Swap Meet (held just about daily at the old race track on Citrus Lane)? Nurse Jeff and I've got a box full of 8 tracks if you're interested in doing some horse tradin' ;)

btw NFVG - have you ever voiced that Biblical quote KOOL used to play at noon daily back in the Chauncey days?

Doc, you mean:

"Blessed is the station that IDs the Lord, KOOL-TV channel 10 Phoenix, on tape"? ;D
