Hi Doc..no I. Didn't do that.

We'll have to put that one on our Santa Wish List, NFVG. Great to hear you're still pressing batter at the Waffle House. In this business it's always good idea to have a Plan B ... just in case ;) When student enrollment is down at the Media Hut, Nurse Jeff and I put on blue aprons and welcome guests at the Buckeye WalMart.

As heard on KOOL-FM* Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time

* and far too often on 99~Nine

Mister Lid is a favorite..but in all the year of doing this wonderful humanitarian work..this remains an NFVG "pick-to-click" (requires QuickTime)

(gag)

But enough about that. I will miss Jeffrey T. We DID do some fun "out of the box" stuff..Makes the job a lot more fun. And hope I can remain with KOOL-FM for many more generations.

Dr. A...when we make our trip to California this coming year..I will give due notice, and all of us should get together for a highly caloric food-meal. A KOOL-FM "fan and talent" showcase.

Happy Holidays!

Sure wish the Media Hut staff had a bunch of those during Homecoming 2012. After sampling some of the Old Gringo's "Hell Hath No Fury" chili at Homecoming 2012, a bunch of grads couldn't wait in line to use the port-a-potties and nature took its inevitable course. That device darn near rivals The Clapper and Chia Pets for holiday giving.

Thanks, NFVG for the link. Nurse Jeff has placed our order and we're looking forward to getting that free belt clip!

Still one of the best sounding Classic Hits/Oldies stations in the country. Great music, great DJ's, great sound!

Goddard, I listen to ya online in Northern Cal. You're as good as they get...An old pro, from the glory days of radio and sounding better then ever...Bet WCBS or KRTH would love to have ya...But why?

KOOL does better then both and you don't have to live in the rat-race!

Wow, I'm humbled - appreciate that very much. I promised myself a long time ago I would hang it up when I start to sound like an old fart going through the motions - and hope no one will have to tell me when it's time.
So far so good.
Thanks again.
Steve

Quite welcome Mr. Goddard!

Personality music-radio...Good, fun, "local" personality music-radio in many markets has been a dead or dying art-form.

With so many choices out there for listeners, hopefully the suits in other, less fortunate radio markets will see the huge value & return-on-investment in keeping good talent, finding good talent and infusing radio with some much needed life!

CBS, with KOOL/KRTH/WCBS/etc. seems to get that...It's workin big-time in PHX, L.A. and NY.

I'd love to see Camelback Jack return to Kool daytime shift.
Does anyone know what happened to him? Is he still in radio?

As of 11/2 (the day I left), Jack was still on KOOL's part-time airstaff. His main role was filling in for Tom & Maria when they were on vacation. Since Tom's been there since the Civil War (luv ya, man!), he has accrued a significant amount of vaca days. Jack also filled in on weekends from time to time. Not sure if that's still the case. I owe him a phone call.

What ever happened to Christopher Lance, who previously did Nights? Different station? Different town? Difference business all together.

He was always a favorite to listen to. Anyone else like him?

Funny you bring up Chris. I just talked to him yesterday. He was filling nights for us at KOOL for a few months on a p/t basis and left just before I did. He's a great guy! VERY talented on-air. Chris is currently looking for something full-time in radio

We were talking about hitting up the KRIZ reunion in February. He's an alumnus, having worked there for 5 months in the 70's. Maybe he'll sneak me into the Friday festivites :)

Seems like Christopher Lance has worked _everywhere_!
I've enjoyed his work since I first heard him in 1972.
It was a treat to hear him on KZZP in the 90s or early 2000s. (Can't remember which format, but I'm inclined to say early Kiss.)
No longer being in the Valley, I didn't realize he'd been doing work on KOOL (would love to have heard him.)
Lance worked noon to 3PM weekdays as part of the original KKHR (Los Angeles) jock lineup in 1983.
Like Famous Amos and Lee Baby Simms, no matter where I hear him, I know he'll be entertaining and on his game.
