I know the Old Gringo will probably dispute this, but KOOL's
(ever-growing again) audience in is the dumpster for most
of two months.
The last book - KOOL was tied for FIRST 12 plus -AND the KOOL morning show has had the best ratings in over a year. The station sounds great.
You're right, and it's a great accomplishment! I don't believe all recent changes have ran its course in an entire book yet, but of course, I hope the ratings do continue to rise.
You don't really think listeners could easily be "down in the dumps" in the past couple of months? Those who got used to listening to the
more fun and
more entertaining Lee Bortel in the evenings? But that's come and gone (in a matter of months), and given the fact that Tom Kent's show isn't too bad itself, it shouldn't hurt terribly, and this has already been discussed in great detail on and off this board... So that's that.
Let's look at the more recent
hypothermic shock (am I right, Doctor?) of hearing Christmas music before the first trick-or-treater ever rang the doorbell!
Here's a personal "down in the dumps" moment for me... This is the very average listener part of me, that DOES listen to Tom Kent, and enjoys the show. I was actually looking forward to his special Halloween show that he's been promoting for several weeks now, but when I got off of work at 11pm, I heard Herbie and the Christmas music. What a big bummer!
Don't forget to think like an average listener: Do most say "Yipee!" when they hear all Christmas this soon, or would the more popular reaction be disappointment or annoyance?
I still AM just a listener, and as intrigued as I am with my knowledge I got from this website or those I've come into contact with because of this website, here's a prompt that would make an interesting discussion and perfect for the "season": is it not as risky as I would think it is to play 3+ days of Christmas music so early?

It is pretty sad that there are never any compliments on this board!!!
Obviously you've missed many of my posts this year, most especially in the post-Feb and pre-TK time period! However, for several days NOW, I've been a lonesome transient among the AM and FM dial... ;D "down in the dumps" indeed.
