KOOL Listener Lauren in traffic accident

I just found out that one of the sweetest, most caring friends of both yours and mine on the planet, was injured in a car accident this afternoon.

KOOL Listener Lauren will be ok, after she got banged up pretty badly while on her three hour break from ASU, when a truck suddenly made a left hand turn in front of her and she had no time to stop, but she sure flattened the brakes trying.

Both air bags of the car she loves so much and has taken meticulous care of (she won it on the night of her high school graduation) may have been totalled. The front end is a mess, she tells me.

An EMT, three cars behind Lauren, helped her after she got out of the car. She sat on a bail of hay that the truck driver had pulled from his truck, and the kind female EMT made sure that Lauren was still and not moving her neck. Paramedics came and took her to the hospital for observation and her mom arrived and took her home.

For anyone who has been in an airbag deployment, not a pleasant experience, and Lauren, frankly, is lucky to be alive. Her right wrist is swollen to heck and so is her right arm. She'll be feeling a lot more by this time tomorrow.

For those who love Lauren, as I do, please drop her a get well note here on the board and on her Facebook page, please? I know (and so do you,) that she would so appreciate hearing from all of her friends in the Valley of the Sun.

She's afraid of losing her much loved car, but I told her that the Media Hut with Dr. Akbar and Nurse Jeff might help her with a Gremlin all waxed and shined for her. Her response ... well, there was no response, except dial tone.

She will, we pray, be ok ... but she's going to hurt for awhile. Her blood pressure went all to heck and she's still pretty shook up and a lot scared ... so, she'd love to hear from you becasue she cares so much about you guys on this board and we all care so much for KOOL Listener Lauren.

She says she did get a chance to turn off her car before she got out of the car, so, aside from a hood, frame straigteninglights, a radiator, grill fenders and ... well, maybe there is a little hope for her car. If not, I know we can help her get some wheels, I hope.

Thanks, guys, and I really appreciate your help -- as does our dear friend, KOOL Listener Lauren. Let's show her how much we care, OK? We love you, Lauren! Get well soon.

Warmly,

Joe

Lauren, prayers going up for you to feel better fast and for your car to be fixable! Though I know you are hurting, I'm so thankful that you weren't hurt even worse. Speedy recovery! XXXXXXOOOOOOO

Thanks, Joe!

Yo, KLL..the Buckeye Boyz wish you a speedy recovery and will chauffeur you around town in our '76 Gremlin (no nasty airbags) until you're ready to solo again! And don't worry about your classes at the Media Hut as we've arranged to get the Old Gringo to cover. Just remember to stay KOOL, Lauren!!

Sorry to hear about your little tiff with the truck KLL but I'm sure in a few days you'll be back to your usual feisty self. As for the car, a Mercury wasn't it, it can be repaired or replaced. You, however, are a different story. So, don't worry about the car. Do what the doc tells you (a REAL doc, not Akbar) and get back soon.

We all love ya girl! ;D

:( :'(

I think I can say that all of us--your R-I friends--feel totally bummed about
what happened and we're so glad it wasn't any worse than has been reported.

May you heal up quickly and don't try to do too much too soon.

You're definitely my favorite "younger poster." :)

I'm so sorry to hear that you were injured in a car accident, KOOL Listener Lauren. You are one of the nicest posters on here and are an integral part of the Phoenix radio community. I hope and pray that you have a speedy recovery and will soon be back to listening to your favorite radio station, KOOL FM. All the best!

I don't know you Lauren, but I wish you well. Good luck on your recovery, and I'll echo the Tuna's sentiments about your car...

It is, after all, just a car.

The car can be replaced. You can't be. Get well soon, Lauren!

Follow the directions of your medical staff, take a deep breath, be a good patient (one of the hardest assignments in the world!), don't worry about the car, yada, yada, yada...

It's a HUGE relief you're still in one piece!!

A big (gentle) hug, and may God bless...

Glad to hear you are alright, Lauren!

Another piece of unsolicited advice....is to get an attorney to deal with the medical bills and car repair/replacement issues. The insurance company will try to negotiate a settlement that works best for them. Don't let them get away with anything short of full-replacement value of your vehicle, a rental car (let them cover the insurance while you rent it), coverage for your medical bills, and a little something for your pain and suffering. I know some good firms/attorneys that don't advertise on TV. PM me and I will send you their names.

Take good care of yourself and as others have pointed out...please, follow the advice of your doctor! And get well soon!!!

KLL, I'm just a reader and occasional poster on this board, and about the only person who knew I was in Phoenix radio was me ... so we don't know each other.
But I've enjoyed your postings on this board and your energy, vitality and character.
I'm saddened by your mishap, but glad it wasn't worse and that you'll be okay.
You brighten this board, and I'm sure, the lives of those around you, including us of course.
So keep smiling, and best wishes for a quick recovery.

I found out about this yesterday via Facebook, and have passed along my thoughts and prayers to Lauren through there, but I will echo this sentiment:

Lauren is an ambitious young lady, and I'm glad the accident wasn't worse than it was.

She is (or, if you happen to be reading this, you are) in my thoughts for a speedy recovery.

It makes me happy to see the outpouring of love and concern, as Lauren is certainly deserving of it; she has made such a wonderful impression on so many of us. Take care of yourself, Lauren, you are one of the torchbearers for the future of our industry! I'm sorry for your cute little car. It did what it was supposed to do, and that was to protect you. Glad you're gonna be ok.

Right, the car is just a box with an internal combustion engine - that is translated, POS as they all are, no matter how delightful they might be drive around in - and necessary.

Money bought it, money will fix it. And if money can't fix it, money can replace it...it's just a box. A nice box, but just a box all the same.

Get well soon.

And yes, you demonstrate that not all are a bunch of crazed imbeciles, which is a good thing.

Hope you're feelin better today, KOOL Lauren. btw..is it raining where you are? ::)

Just noticed this.
Anyway, Lauren I will talk to you when I get back. I have to get a family member to an appointment and I'm on the borderlines of running late to finishing the first step in this process of picking them up at 2:30.

Much love and best wishes hun. Talk to you later.
