KOOL Listener Lauren in traffic accident

Lauren, it was the Bill Johnson's people..they are conspiring against you.

Get better, bummer losing the Lauren-wagon but I sense that Lauren-Wagon II is on its way.

Pattiwacki and all 400+ who have rallied to Lauren's side -- thank you, thank you, thank you. Through the "funny pills" and a split on her right arm and wrist, the x-rays, she says, turned out "perfect" -- as she got to see them and said, "Well, they look perfect to me!" She was at the ER where she used to volunteer and said that "I'm feeling fine, really, but I'm soooo out of it, I could fall asleep standing up!"

Those funny radio people and the fans like us who love them!

KOOL Listener Lauren is forever grateful to each and every one of you and to the posters who have been kind enough to drop her a note. She has been looking for used wheels and so far, all she can find is a mid-70s denim upholstered Gremlin on Craigslist. It was driven by a couple of guys wearing a fez and the car was carefully taken care of, except for the rash of wheelies that were pulled in the Parking Lot Sports six ~ 20, where the men from the middle east consultancy hut were seen, fez and all, romping into the WalMart car care center, where they were told, "No one caes about a Gremlin." They were dejected, but got over it before they hit "Housewares."

So, KOOL Listener Lauren is on the mend and each of you played an important part. No word on the Lauren-mobile, but she is sure it is in safe hands, though with a shattered front end and a radio permanently stuck on KOOL-FM.

She is grateful and thankful to all of her friends here. Lauren was thinking about a barbeque, but admitted that it was the Vicodan talking...

Enjoy the weekend, relax, and rest this weekend, Lauren. The rest will work out, you watch.

- Joe

Wasn't that Superfly Levi's Gremlin won by guessing the correct color of the KUPD Boogie Shirt?

Best wishes to Lauren.

YIKES!

Don't knock those awesome AMC vehicles as they're covered by the infamous Buyer Protection Plan. Want more proof? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm7Jam2phTk Plus you don't have to get to the back of the line or nothin'!

(personal msg for KLL: if there's any usused Vicodin, Nurse Jeff will gladly remove it free of charge)

This whelming outpouring of well wishes for Lauren is truly cool. She's obviously the most loved person on the Phoenix board (the Radio Board equivalent of being the most popular girl in school)!
God bless you in your recovery, Lauren. Please know that you are in all our hearts and prayers.

I have seen the pictures of KLL's much beloved Mercury. It is a goner, unfortunately. The pictures don't do the collision justice, but give us all pause to be grateful and thankful that she's alright. Thank GOD for V-8's built well.

Lauren, you are a very fortunate young lady -- and much cared for. The board proves it.

If that front end, bad as it is, hadn't taken the crunch like it did, we'd be saying a lot more sad things here than we have. I can't believe that the engine block was still working, but the entire front was crumpled and bent all the way to the windshield -- hood and all. The rest of the car is beautiful, but I don't think there's hope no matter what price you'd have to pay for a long-time repair. It's much more than "cosmetics" -- maybe she'll post them if she wants.

The dual-air bag system alone will cost you $4000 or more, let alone the other things.

Again, you are a fortunate, but grateful and thankful woman -- as we are for you, Lauren.

I hear she is thinking a Mustang convertible ... honest.

My younger sister just got her first car today!
LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING IT WHEN I TURNED ON MARYLAND.

Enough said... but my sister and I do think differently. While I was asking her if she was prepared for things like what happened to happen, she was yelling at me to turn the car around because she wanted to cuss the other drivers out.

What happened... I guess I shall explain quickly... is we were going west on Maryland approaching a fourway. Someone made a right turn from the left intersecting street turning east on Maryland. AT THE EXACT SAME TIME, someone from the right side decided they'd do the same, both right in front of me. I may be the common sense guy talking about common sense, but my sister? Don't mess with her on the street. Common sense to her is secondary to teaching people a lesson who mess with her on the streets.. I learned a lot of new cuss words today! ;D

LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING.

Either there would've been an accident if I wasn't there, OR someone would've been fighting somewhere on the streets. My sister's mind set is different from mine. If someone messes up with her, it's "f common sense - they need to be cussed out". Yes, she's at that age... but I know people in their 30's and 40's and 50's who also do the same thing on the streets. I'm seriously hoping her road rage isn't that bad when I'm not around and that she was just putting on a show. Even though I do not mention it, I am a little nervous with her driving, especially with all the things that happened today and DURING THE ENTIRE WEEK.

By the way, that's my style of presenting what happened today. If my sister was signed in here, this entire thing would've immediately transformed into "take it outside" material.

Anyway, hoping Ms. Lauren gets better soon. I'm not sure if "Ms." is appropriate, but I'm thinking if I don't use the "Lovely Lady" before the "Lauren", then it turns in to a "Ms." Either way, have a swifty recovery.

Here's the "official" update for Sunday (so far) from KLL News ... Let's go to press!

OK, KLL Friends and fans ... Lauren is hurting, as expected, and if she continues to hurt in the wrist within five days, she may be back to check more for a hairline fracture. She, naturally, grabbed the steering wheel milliseconds before the airbags blew up in her face. That's pretty damn terrifying. She is entertaining herself watching Simpson's YouTube videos, especially the "Lisa on Happy Pills" clip ... :) Losing her wonderful Merc Cougar XR-7 is like losing a family member to her. :( Thank goodness it was a muscular V-8, or a six-cylinder or a 4-banger may have just landed in her lap. She is looking for a nice car and is set to carve up the insurance company Monday morning. She loves all who have posted and left very nice PM messages. We love her, too ... and she's so appreciative of your thoughts and care.

As of tonight, she's feeling a bit better. Not quite ready to take on Charles Barkley in a game of "Horse" on the basketball court, but she's doing a bit better. She would, however, like to pitch for the D-Backs on Sunday, because they can't be and worse, at 23 games out ...

Thank you all so much -- from KOOL Listenr Lauren.

Phoenix AirChecks -- fair and unbalanced, we're in touch so you'll be in touch. Traffic and weather together on the 8's 24/7! TheRadio KLL "Cruise-o-matic" Gremlin with Dr. Akbar and Nurse Jeff is scouring the Valley of the Sun for "I-Wing It News" as it happens! "When news breaks, we break up!"

Just in ...

On a serious note, here, with permission of Lauren, is what her beloved car looks like right now in the tow-yard.

Not pretty pictures ... and Lauren is doing a little better, realizing how fortunate she is and how special each of you is to her. She appreciates the chance to smile a bit now, is in good spirits and she is really grateful that you've shared your love and concern. She's quite a trouper, as you know, and for her, "The NewsWatch never stops," so, she'll have some more Phoenix Airchecks news shortly, if she can be pried away from those Simpson's videos ...

Thanks again, everyone.

YIKES! double YIKES!

That Cougar sure looks like a cat after it's 9th life has been used! KOOL Lauren is truly Lucky KOOL Lauren.

btw...isn't that the KBSZ transmitter trailer in the background?

Boxed front end - car goes one way, the hood goes the other. Been there, done that. Keep an eye on the human bod for a couple of months.

Don't worry about the car. You'll get another one. Say goodbye to the prize. Just get something you like, used, new, whatever you like, as long as it gets the job done. That's my maxim. Then I bat my eyes all stylish like and ask Sweetie Pie if I can have it.

Oaktree or/and board moderator:
I was also involved in accident (doing ok, vehicle totalled, injury claim pending) and have very something to contribute. Nothing - and I do mean nothing - should be posted online referencing any auto accident. If the other insurance company traces the message board handle "Kool Listener Lauren" to (real name) and matches it to the date of loss, that will seriously jeopardize any settlement. Ditto for posting anything on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace: don't do it. Whether it's something that can be perceived as 'good' (like partying) or 'bad' (in a hospital bed)....keep it offline and away from the internet.

I am respectfully asking for this thread to be removed for the aforementioned reasons.

...in Lauren's case, she hasn't said a word, and we only have Oaktree's word that she gave permission to show the photograph. The rest is just well wishing.

Lauren did not exactly go on the air and belabor the point every chance she got, complete with doctor names, all about New Age treatment she insisted upon and got, ignoring any other medical advice, while talking about how her body is so badly broken. That would be violating her own HIPAA rights and making herself more than fair game for anyone and everyone to do research, make phone calls or anything else in order to super mitigate their losses as a result of the power of the airwaves she exercised against her own self. In fact, being so badly injured she probably hasn't said anything at all and will not -at least not while it is still going on...especially not by use of the airwaves.

Such a bad accident, unlike a rear end bump or other minor fender bender, would probably have been on the news or in the papers, etc. Lauren's medical records were not released, and we note that Lauren herself did not mention anything about it to anyone on this board. Moreover, we are pretty sure that without a medical directive nobody at school or anywhere else would have received the information from hospitals or anywhere else, whether blood pressure or any other matter at hand.

Just some local busybody calling for going to press and everything else, even citing the news sources. Again, Lauren has not said anything herself, and I do not note that she gave anyone else authority first hand.
