Yeah yeah yeah yeah, "It's just a trend," okay, yeah, CAN IT, SKIPPY!

KPTK had it biggest trend yet! Is it finally working? Will it see the same success in Seattle in a year or so as it is seeing in Portland (KPOJ)? As the administration is unraveling?

Me tends to think it won't, but I'd like to hear some commentary from the peanut gallery. DISCUSS!

I think it could work their July was huge. If Infinity would add a local morning show with an extreme talent like Dave Ross and a smart news anchor who could keep up with him, I'd listen.

1.4 to 1.8 12+ in Summer phase 1 (just a trend)is huge? I could argue and win that everyday until the book. I'll wait and see. There are too many things wrong with the formatics, talent, business issues at both AAR and a tough sell even in Seattle. They still are filling drive time network breaks with PSA's and promo's and the network level spot sets have yet to reveal substantial buys.
However, if Portland takes to it, one would think the prospects are good in urban Seattle, but a diary mention from other areas in the region might be rather difficult. I will say that trying to connect administration polling numbers with some migration to KPTK is wishful thinking as well as any Infinity plan to add local talent such as a Dave Ross or the like. They, like the majority of the other AAR affiliates nationwide must attract and retain the "psychographic" who are avid NPR listeners if they listen to any radio at all. So far, they have only made inroads in Portland and Denver and are trending down in markets where they have been on longer.

It will be huge or noteworthy when they enter the top 10. As a 50,000 watt station who is still in the high teens, they have a LONG WAY to go before the word "huge" can be used with them.

I'm not looking at the who gives a s--- 12+ numbers. 25-54, July only, last month of the trend, KPTK dayparts ranging from 3.1 to 4.0

"Huge" is a definition that depends on your view of the world. The basement numbers at KIRO certainly make it look huge by comparison.

People here talking about "like a Dave Ross" on this thread....how long is Ross under contract @ KIRO and would it ever make sense to jump ship to 'PTK where he could essentially be the star of the station? One RANDOM part of that whole thing would be Infinity/CBS ownership of the station just might also be attractive in that he could end up with more network presence as well.

For that matter, I wonder if Air America & Ross have ever "had coffee" ????

If KPTK is worth discussing, then Jack certainly is. Jack had the biggest rise of any station and it looks like they stole a little from several stations.

Q 2;

Will it last?

Smart news anchor: Maura Galuchi. Haven't heard a peep since she left the Bob Rivers' show. Anybody know where she went? She would be a good fit for KPTK with Ross. And I agree... a local morning show is what they need. Their morning show is their weakest link. Randi Rhodes is the queen of the afternoons. Would like to hear Jerry Springer in the afternoons rather than doofy Ed Schultz.

Especially if Robin & Maynard are kicked to the curb by the cowboy boots comin' in, I'm going to need a new morning drive show!

Last I'd heard Maura and her husband were expecting a child.

I'm pretty sure she has had the baby, and I heard her on KIRO in the recent past.

I agree she's about the best female news person around.
