Hey Everybody!
When I decided to pursue a career in radio I knew how the industry worked.
Most Air Personalities jump from city to city plying their trade. As soon as
their contract in one town was up it was time to pack up the family and move
to the next destination. I wanted my career to be different. I'm in love
with my hometown, I want my kids to grow up here, I want to make a positive
impact and be more than just a DJ...I wanted to be a friend to those who
trusted me to inform, entertain and perhaps put a smile on their face each
morning.
I was well on my way to doing that before September 1, 2005. However, for
reasons, some in my control and others I had no control over, September 1,
2005 became the last day I was allowed to follow my dream on the Phoenix
Airwaves. Over the past year I have been faced with many personal and
professional
decisions. One decision that was never debated was my desire to stay here in
the Valley, a promise I made to Valley listeners more than a decade ago, and
my desire to continue to make a positive impact on this wonderful community
we all call home.
As many of you have noticed there have been extraordinary changes to the
Phoenix Radio Landscape since I left. Heritage Radio Stations no longer exist,
other stations have switched formats and personalities, and many other radio
stations just tend to stay afloat with barely a heartbeat and definitely no
soul. On the other hand there are some radio companies that have taken bold
steps to re-vitalize the Medium of radio. One such company is Bonneville
Broadcasting, the owners of News 92.3 KTAR. Over this past year KTAR has taken
the steps to transform this 80+ year old radio station from a typical AM
Newstalker that has relied on a much older demographic to a FM Radio Station
that
reflects today's adult, gives important information and then gives you, the
public, a forum to discuss the days events and how they affect your lives.
As you all know responsible, informative broadcasting was a cornerstone of
our show throughout the years. I crossed a lot of managers throughout the
years because they felt our show should be more silly, trivial, full of games,
etc. I believed that we had a responsibility to inform people what was going
on in our world and give them an outlet to talk about it. Now there's
finally a radio station that shares in my belief that younger adults are not
only
very interested in today's events but also have strong views and want to be
heard.
So it is with Great Excitement and Anticipation that I'm inviting you to
join me this Tuesday (12/19) through Friday (12/22) from 9PM - 12MID MST as I
fill in for Larry Gaydos on News 92.3 KTAR. KTAR is by far the biggest radio
station in the state of Arizona. I will be heard on KTAR - FM 92.3, KTAR - AM
620 and World Wide at _WWW.KTAR.COM_ (http://www.ktar.com/) .

I can't explain the incredible positive emotions I am currently
experiencing. I can't get it out of my mind. I've missed broadcasting so much
and I
can't wait for the opportunity to begin this new direction in my career. News
Talk is something that most, if not all, Air Personalities strive for. It's
just me, the microphone, and the listeners. No music, no goofy stunts, no
agenda from management dictating your views. It's truly broadcasting in it's
purest form. I feel so blessed to have this chance of a lifetime.
Will something else come from this? Well, it's a try-out for a different
shift that will open up on January 1st. I guess it all depends on how this
next week goes. So if you've got an extra prayer that you could send my way it
would be greatly appreciated.
As always, thank you so much for your friendship, support, loyalty and most
of all the amazing relationship we've shared over the years. It's these
things that have kept me focused on my goal of staying on the air in The Valley
for the past decade and hopefully for decades to come.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays...Your friend,
