Krazy Kid on KTAR !?!?!

It's been very interesting reading all the different posts about my try-outs. I really appreciate all of the different views. Thank you for the compliments. The constructive criticism is on point so you'll get no arguement from me. I know that if I were to do talk radio I have a long way to go until I'd consider myself an accomplished, polished talk show host.

All I can say is if something comes of this there's no doubt I'd work like never before to develop myself as a talk show host. If it doesn't work out then I've just been given a wonderful Christmas present and a new shot in the arm and reminder of how important broadcasting is to my life.

Happy holidays and thank you for the posts on both sides.

90% of the time, 90% of the post on this board are 90% negative. Mine included. You did good Kid. Talk show hosts take a while to get going, and eventually stutter and stumble their way out of a job (Preston), but the good ones have a 20 or so year run in between.

Preston Did not "stutter and stumble" his way out of a job. Preston Westmoreland is a premier talk host.
He's been offered any number of opportunities to return to radio. On your very best day you should be half as good at what you do as Preston was at what he did on KTAR.

Watching a ceiling fan is more entertaining than listening to Preston Westmoreland.

Perhaps, many moons ago, when the internet was just a sparkle in the mind of a MIT researcher, ill informed radio talk hosts could stammer their way through shows, oblivious to facts and dreading offending anybody. Not in 2007. I am trying not to make this sound personal, but I judge the matter as objectively possible, and it's painfully obvious especially when the host butchers a topic that I am intimately familiar with (not that they agree with political philosophy and/or sentiments regarding side of a particular issue, just that they are informed with evidence offered by the conflicting sides). Sorry, but perusing the wire service headlines does NOT make for an informed host. Anyone with access to a web browser is more informed than Preston Westmoreland ever was.

Preston was pathetically ill informed when interviewing guests, stammers and stutters, and never seems to grasp the gist of caller remarks. He was unprepared, sounding like he did his entire show off a script scribbled onto a deck of index cards. Even the cold voiced emotional responses sounded oddly fabricated within the dull, monotonous cue card reading

The fact that a flagship station like KTAR still yearns for his cadaver style epitomizes why they still trail in ratings to the other news/talk station that spouts a fountain of hate and racist eliminationist rhetoric.

Przztn was the worst.

Dull dull dull dull.

He may have been interesting to the nearly deceased KTAR listeners, but, honestly, static and dead air was more listenable than Przzzzzzzzz.

Was Preston really that bad? When I first moved to Phoenix in the early 00's, Preston was doing afternoon drive. With news, traffic, weather, and commercials he could barely get in a few sentences and phone calls. I do miss the bi-annual "should Arizona switch to daylight savings time?" poll.

Hey! Guess what? Legend City doesn't like KTAR

Repeat after me: the same 6 people in this forum have said the same 6 things about KTAR for the past 6 years, and one of them was that Preston Westmoreland was boring.

Others have other opinions. "Legend City" and "Drakbar" do not like Pat Mcmahon, or Preston Westmoreland, or anything on KTAR.

Oh, one thing Zuma[EDIT], I do like some stuff on KTAR, I listened to Femino and when he stuck to serious stuff he was good, once he started the "what a joke" gag, I tuned out. I find the computer show on the weekends pretty good, I liked Tony Snow when it was on, and Heidi is perfectly servicable for the kind of show she does.

But, your endless whining got old, if I knew how much my posts bothered you, I would have posted much more often. ;D

"What a joke!" predates Femino's KTAR days by several years. He and Gaydos started that when he was doing PM drive on KGME 1360 circa 1996 or '97.

I like Femino, but he destroys his credibility that he works so hard to get. I really like the track he tries with the global information, its a great niche that no one does anymore, but then he resorts back to his old jock stuff and I switch the channel.

Oh, and I don't hit the abuse button like our OCD friend!

BTW Keith, I enjoy your PHX radio history knowledge, its well appreciated by us at the amusement park.

Just read on allaccess.com that Kid is getting a tryout on KTAR for the next two weeks from 7-9pm. Kid I enjoyed you the other week on KTAR and am looking forward to the next two weeks. Knock em dead!
