Kris Winter coming to WSHH?

Who is Cris Winter Replacing? As far as a format change on Wish, I doubt that will ever happen. Now WLTJ 92.9, I could see that happening.

You are correct, there was a writeup about her and her dad being in the broadcast industry together a few months back. Have not heard where she is going. I think while she was "on air" at WSHH, mainly everything was voice tracked, I don't think she was there on a day to day basis.

So you denying the possibility that WSHH might wish to change its target demo, even slightly, in order to increase billings or profits, is that it? Do you really believe that all radio stations and station managers remain totally locked into little niches and never, ever seek to change?

I dont' see WSHH unseating DVE at all either. I was pointing out head to head female deejays. My point was that Cris Winter is not as popular or as well-liked a personality as Michele Michaels.

I don't see that happening, either. But, neither 'DVE nor WSHH captures 100% of their target audience. And, neither 'DVE nor WSHH have only members of their target audience listening. The overlap between the two stations might not be big right now, but there is some. I see Cris Winter having the potential, if WSHH makes her playlist a little bit more 'DVE-like (not an exact copy, just a slight shift) and promotes her arrival on WSHH aggressively using media that reaches people who don't currently listen to WSHH, to steal maybe half a point from Michele Michaels on 'DVE.
Is shifting half a point "unseating" 'DVE? Hell, no! But would any station manager turn down increasing his station's ratings by half a point? Winters won't get many of the hard-core 'DVE fans to switch, but as has been pointed out in other threads, one of the reasons why 'DVE is #1 is lack of competition. 'DVE beating K-Rock is like the Pittsburgh Pirates defeating the Washington Wild Things. With good management support on playlist and promotion, Winter could attract some of the 'DVE listeners who only listen out of habit or because 'DVE is the least objectionable station. I'm betting she does not get either the playlist or the promotion support.

In my opinion, I thought Kris Winter did good on her first day on WSHH. I guess we will see what kind of ratings she has in the next few months.

Cynthia has been off of WSHH for months! They were VT with two other people during that time period. Cris over there now makes a lot of sense. It will not unseat DVE but it should not if they are going after their true demo. It does make their mid days slot sound better then it has in years!
I just would like to say when I've heard Ms. Winter I have found her to be very compelling on the air. I always enjoyed her comments and work on WDVE and WBGG.
