KRMG Changes?

Noticed that Denise Brewer hasn't been on the morning show for a while and that her bio is gone from the website? Did she leave?
Hopefully KRMG isn't facing cutbacks like its brethern in other markets.

Interesting observation. Anybody know the inside scoop? Maybe DelGiorno is coming back to save KRMG? He always threatened to do that. Wonder if he would be taken back into the Cox family?

I don't know anything about Denise, but Rob Hough finally had enough and went back closer to home; he's working at 1310 / KZRG http://www.1310kzrg.com/pages/654261.php in the news department.

It's a shame, really... KRMG had a great personality and a real workhorse in Rob, but for whatever reason they didn't see it worth their while to try to hold on to him. As far as I'm concerned, it's Tulsa's loss and Joplin's gain.

I don't think DelGiorno can come back to this state unless it's in a squad car. ;D

KRMG is just as much the victim of "corporate" budget cutbacks as any other station in the nation. As far as Delgiorno is concerned, Cox is greedy, not overtly self-destructive. Mike needs to stay in Nashville and on his meds. Now that Gwen is back with him he'll have some sense of balance if not at the very least an at work keeper.

Del Giorno won't come back here unless he's the featured course at our annual pig roast.

Denise submitted her resignation. She has young children at home and the early hours were difficult for her. She is missed. We're looking for a replacement right now. Dick Loftin has filled Rob's swingspot. No cut backs

John-
I believe your Dad was an hvac guy. Or was he an uncle? In either case, he used to brag on you a lot. Thought you might like to know that. I've enjoyed listening to you for years.

O'Shea

As far as Delgornio goes, he's never ever coming back to Tulsa. Like him or not he burned bridges with every station group in town with the exception of Renda, Shamrock, and the KXOJ group. Not to mention all the bad blood between him and the city, his "Creek Casino" incident, etc.... I hope he can have a succesful career in Nashville.
I'd like to ask John, how KRMG is getting by with the absence of Richard Dowdell and the departure of Denise Brewer? I'm not sure if you tape your newscasts or are live 24/7, but it seems like everyone over there is pulling some really long hours if you're going live 24/7. But, it's part of the business I guess.
On a side note, if you think KRMG or anyone else is having a tough time, check out KFAQ. I think their news department is down to about 4 or 5 people covering news 7 days a week. Local newscasts at that station are going 2 minutes tops and are sometimes even shorter. He may be voice tracking, but I'm hearing Brian Gann's voice all the way till midnight some nights.
I wish KRMG would discontinue using AP Network News and go back to using ABC News fulltime. The quality is so much higher with ABC plus the network news reports are so much better. But maybe there's a reason corporate or otherwise KRMG is stuck with AP.
I'm also curious as to why KRMG has never gone live with Rush, Hannity, and Savage? I think 2.5 hours of Neal Boortz is enough, even though he's a fellow Cox employee. Plus, it would give listeners a chance to follow the programs live.
Just an opinion from a frequent listener and colleague.

Durk...good to see you here!! Read about Richard...if it's a health related issue, please give him my best!!

And how do they let people like O'Shea up here? Thot all he visited was sites that cost him 8.95/min...but I could be wrong!!

As for getting by without Richard, it is tough, but we are doing it. That is the great thing about have a large staff of seasoned folks. We expanded all the anchor shifts by one hour to fill the void. Dandy Don Bishop has been picking up a lot of the story production/tasks that usually fell to Denise. So we are okay for the time being.

Richard was at the OAB over the weekend to pick-up an award for his series work. We look for him back soon.

...Bob, it must be an uncle.... my dad died in the early 70s, when I was in high school. I have more uncles and cousins around here than you can imagine.

...and to Coop. I saw JoAnn Downs about a month ago. We had a great visit. She is doing wonderful.

Congratulations on your many awards John. You run a great station/news staff.

Dandy Don Bishop is still at KRMG? That's great - I'm glad KRMG still has some people that have been there awhile.

Of course, I remember people like Vic Bastien from the 1960s or 70s - I must be old.

Thanks for the info John. You all run a tight ship and have a great product you all should be very proud of. KRMG's news division does a great job. Congratulations on the awards and we look forward to hearing Richard once again very soon.

Hey Coop-
Where did you find that 8.95/minute site? Prespiring minds want to know. Been listening to you at 92.9. Sounding sharp as ever. Hope all is well. Would blog more but they're running a flashing blue light special on vaseline so I gotta go.

To the Big O (Shea...)

8.95/min site actually 12.95...I get a Frequent Flirter Discount...
Hope all is well with you!!!

What about Marshall Stewart? His bio is now gone from the website.

I guess KRMG has been doing more cut backs. John Filbeck wasn't on the air at 4 as he normally is. What in the heck is going on at the Big KMR? Geez! What a shame to let go of someone who is such a great asset. Wonder what Channel 6 and the other stations will do tomorrow for traffic??! Could it be that KRMG has finally decided there's no reason to do traffic in Tulsa unless it's done from the air??

Filbeck was on the air this morning... was ANYBODY doing traffic yesterday afternoon on KRMG? If not, maybe they've just eliminated afternoon traffic... hard to believe, though, since it was typically sponsored, although it would be more fair to John (no more 12 hr days) & it would be easier since they're trying to fit updates into network programming.

Still, it's hard to imagine "Tulsa's Traffic Authority" eliminating traffic when just about every station in town already does it...

This also doesn't answer where Marshall Stewart is...

It looks like his last story was archived January 14th:
http://krmg.com/localnews/marshall-stewart/2009/01/

His profile is still on the website, although not linked:
http://krmg.com/features/staff_stewart.html

Although, to be fair, the new News Director, Dan Potter's pic & bio isn't on the site, either...

Did I hear a rumor that 1170 beat 740 in a key demo? Nothing against 1170, but if true that DOES surprise me...
